Shiro now works for Laxus, but she's still subject to the commands of her demon masters. What will her next mission be?
Saike Shiro
"Ms. Kononoke!" Laxus Dreyar snaps, having called for me three times.
"Sorry, sir!" I answer, paling. "I-"
"No matter. If you could come with me to this next meeting?" He pauses, "What's with the hoodie?"
I bite my lip, uncertain of how to respond. Laxus sighs and sizes me up. "Ms. Haiyokama!"
The name jolts me.
Many people from my old orphanage took their last name from the orphanage, mainly if they didn't know their original name. My friend was one of them, especially since she was adopted by the orphanage's owner, Haiyokama Koro.
Instead of my friend or Koro-san, is another familiar woman, one with brown hair and glasses. I believe her name was Evergreen-san. She and another boy, Bixlow-san, went to a different school than me and my brothers, but I watched them a lot when they were at home. I watched many people. It wasn't like I had many friends to hang out with so I just ... observed. I wonder if Evergreen-san knew me as well as I knew her? Would she recognize me?
"Yes, Dreyar-sama?" Evergreen-san asks.
"Can you offer Shiro some nicer clothing?" He pauses, turning to me, "Sorry, Ms. Kononoke, I meant to refer to you formally."
"I-It's fine. I pre-" I stop. "I like Shiro better. I'm rarely ever re― called Ms. K― by my last name."
Dreyar-san smirks, "No objections to wearing something more formal?"
I stare at Evergreen-san, "As long as I do n― don't have to wear a dress."
Dreyar-san laughs, "That's between you and Evergreen. If you were to wear a dress though, I wouldn't mind."
I feel my cheeks redden, both from embarrassment and rage. "Y-You― What?"
Evergreen-san's lips form an incredibly smug curve, "I think I see where this is going."
"W-What?"
She grips my wrist and starts to drag me away. "Come on, let's go shopping."
"Wait! Sir, help, please! I-"
"Don't worry, Sh― Ms. Kononoke, I'll handle things for today." He smirks at me, evilly. "Have fun."
"Do I really need this much?"
"Yes, so, about Laxus?"
"Wow, um, don't you call him by his last name? Why the sudden drop of formality?" I ask her.
"Oh, Laxus is a close friend of mine, outside of work."
"Oh, wow! I never would have guessed. He treats you so ..." I pause. Using a variant of the word formal once might not have been so bad, but twice in a row and it might be considered formal. "... coldly." I say instead.
