The Ancient Heroes hosted a conference with the people of the Vanilla Kingdom, it was regarding the power vacuum now that their king, Pure Vanilla Cookie had..

" A new ruler? What happened to Pure Vanilla Cookie?! "

"Without somecookie to fill in the power vacuum, the Vanilla Kingdom will crumble! "

"It won't be the same without our king.. "

" I don't want another cookie aside from his majesty to rule over us! "

Chatter, chatter.

The kingdom was bustling, just like the Hollyberrian markets. But this was not talks of sales and products.

This was mourning. This was denial.

This was the death of a beloved ruler.

In the end, more than half, 59% of the Kingdom's population decided to elect a new ruler. It was a fierce,long and tiring debate, whether they should elect one of their own or have the other Heroes rule the kingdom of their late friend. Due to this, some cookies left the Kingdom and moved to other kingdoms or villages. Without Pure Vanilla, things would never be the same in the Vanilla Kingdom. But they had to move forward, out with the old and in with the new.

Having a ruler to lead,is better than no ruler at all.

i looked at the crowd of the Kingdom's people, of my friend's people. They were all waiting for her to start.

She had to get herself together, jam it! She was the Queen of her Kingdom. She was one of the Ancient Heroes.

She cleared her throat, and began to speak.

"As you all know, 59% of you have decided to elect a new ruler, and the majority vote was to elect one of the Kingdom's citizens. The one elected will have to meet qualifications before becoming the official ruler of the kingdom. The voting will start in two days, and the results on 5 days."

There were quite a few people who were candidates for the position, a few remarkable ones included :

Custard Cream, a premier in Pure Vanilla's government. He was also a father to a newly baked cookie.

Whipped Cream Cookie, a soldier in the Dark Flour War, he had a good head on his shoulder and was well loved by the masses of the kingdom

And finally,

Lemon Syrup Cookie. A charismatic, young cookie that reminded everyone of their late king. (B̶u̶t̶ w̶a̶s̶ h̶e̶ r̶e̶a̶l̶l̶y̶?̶)

I opened the envelope, and read the letter, the one that decided the future of the Vanilla Kingdom (̶t̶h̶e̶ o̶n̶e̶ t̶h̶a̶t̶ j̶a̶m̶e̶d̶  t̶h̶e̶ k̶i̶n̶g̶d̶o̶m̶)̶

" Pure Vanilla Cookie's successor, and the new ruler of the Vanilla Kingdom is.. "

"Lemon Syrup Cookie!"

The crowd cheered, and yet, I was still uneasy.

Though the ruler of the Vanilla Kingdom, Lemon Syrup was not a pillar of the Dark Flour War and therefore was not, and could not be an Ancient Hero. They could not call him an Ancient.

"It's okay, I understand! The title is only meant for you guys, after all. The brave, undefeated heroes of the War! It'd be an insult to even suggest I take a position close to yours! Besides,I'm glad that the common cookies have one less fear about the Ancient Heroes fighting." He said, amicably. No wonder the people voted for him, he was likely going to be a kind ruler. The first few weeks were good, it was reminiscent of the first few weeks of the Vanilla Kingdom, back when Pure Vanilla Cookie  first started.

but all good things must come to an end, at some point.

Within three months of instating Lemon Syrup as ruler, he was starting to have a grip on the kingdom, like a dictator.

  Rallies were mercilessly shot down, even the slightest change had to be approved by Lemon Syrup.

7 months of Lemon Syrup's rule, and at this point the entire kingdom was.. unhappy. Well, that's quite an understatement.The guards that Lemon Syrup hired to protect the kingdom were doing everything but protecting, stealing from the people and hurting them. The cookies were now forced to pay fees to enter and leave the Kingdom, and everycookie was afraid to voice out their opinion, in fear of being turned to crumbs.

   'What on earthbread is happening to the Vanilla Kingdom? Why aren't they letting us out?'

'The prices are being raised like our dough when we were baked!'

'Why do I have to pay a fee to leave?? I was baked and raised in the Vanilla Kingdom!'

But things would only get worse.

A tyrant. This is what all cookies think of Lemon Syrup, but do not dare say out loud.

  He uses his power as king to oppress those who can not serve him. Those that are too weak to fight, which results in death or being burned in the oven and then being thrown off a cliff to crumble and die. Just because they are unable to fight for the Syrup Kingdom.

     Thats right. He renamed the Kingdom.

   The Vanilla Kingdom's, no, the Syrup Kingdom's history, of a peaceful, beautiful kingdom was now tainted by Lemon Syrup's rule.

Why aren't the ancients doing anything?

They don't know about it. On the surface, the Vanilla Kingdom was the same as ever, if not with a new name. He excused the sudden isolation as " the Kingdom focusing on itself before other nations" for now.

And if they knew? They'd want to help. But they've only just won the Dark Flour War, and to do anything now would damage their own kingdom's even more. They will just have to help from the shadows.

  Why cant the Vanillians- er, Syrupi just overthrow Lemon Syrup

   Lemon Syrup Cookie is much, much more powerful than civilian cookies. Especially after the rise in rarity after becoming the ruler of the then Vanilla Kingdom.

Oh and the guards would make the rebelling cookies crumble.

     'Cant the Vanillians just leave?'

If you had asked this question months ago, then yes. But you'd have to pay a fee. But now..

"Why can't the ancients fight Lemon Syrup?"

They'd risk endangering the people of the Syr- no. It was Pure Vanilla's Kingdom. The people of the Vanilla Kingdom.

And Lemon Syrup knows that.

Earthbread was recovering from the effects of the dark flour war, and to start another one now would be catastrophic.

What happened to Pure Vanilla, you ask?

You'll have to wait and see.

but as for now, Lemon Syrup still rules the kingdom.
