Rumors

A week and a half after you started dating Mr. Park, rumors started to spread.

You sigh and watch as Seulgi approaches, giving you a sad look. "You okay girl?" she inquires. "I will be once this all gets sorted out. Poor Jimin," you mumble. Although it's your student life affected, you still feel bad for Jimin. New professor looking to score a nice job and the first thing he gets is harassed by students who don't understand what's going on between you two. There's only one way to solve this: tell the popular kids about the rumors and debunk them.

"Mina's over there," Seulgi says, pointing to the girl. Mina's actually really nice. College is much different than high school in more than just the 'you're living on your own' way. Despite the fight you got into, everyone here is much more mature. Probably because they're literally paying an unimaginable amount to be here. Your only hope is that Mina's nice and mature, that way she'll help you debunk all these rumors that you and Jimin are fucking. Honestly it's a little crazy how they're so close yet so far from the truth, you and Jimin haven't fucked yet, you're only dating. So in a way the rumors really are false until he's ready to take that next step.

"Do you want me to come with?" Seul asks, giving you a concerned look. You pat her on the shoulder, "oh no, I got this. You need to go find Hoseok and give him some sweet loving." Seulgi gives you a dirty glare that you laugh to. "What? Am I not allowed to encourage my best friend's love life?" "You're allowed... but only after you sort out your own. Deal?" You huff, "you're no fun... but I'll say deal because you look too cute to say no to." "That's what I thought," she sassily remarks with a hair flip, "now go debunk those rumors!" "Yes ma'am!" you eagerly reply with a salute.

You walk across the way to approach Mina, who looks at you as you come closer. "Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt. I'm Y/n," you greet with a small smile. Mina shakes you off, "don't apologize, come, sit. We're always open to new friends." Oh good she isn't fake. Probably. Your smile widens and you sit down, looking at the other two girls sitting down. "I'm Dahyun," one of them introduces. "And I'm Lisa," the other says. You give them both a 'nice to meet you' but decide to focus on your mission.

"I hate to be that person but..." Mina raises a brow, "you want me to help stop the rumors going around about you and Mr. Park?" "Well... yeah," you admit with a deep sigh. "It's okay girl, you can be honest. I know I probably seem like this fake ass dumb popular girl but I promise I'm not," she reassures. At her genuine glance you give her a solid nod. "Okay... I'll trust you. Thank you." She shakes you off once again, "don't mention it. I'll help you, but I'm still a girl so come on sis what's the tea? Are you two really fucking cause if so - God damn girl you scored."

You laugh and shake your head, "I know this may come as a surprise, but we aren't. You know Min Yoongi?" She nods, "the really hot one who spends too much time in the music room and sleeps in the janitors closet when they're on break?" "That's him." "What about him then?" You softly smile, "he's my best friend. He's been my best friend for a bit now... and he's also best friends with Mr. Park." Her eyes light up, "so... you're not fucking, the two of you just became friends through a mutual friend?" You nod, "exactly. So we hang out a lot after school. I mean I'd gladly let him do whatever he wants to me but uh... you didn't hear that from me."

She giggles, "I can't blame you, he's got a big ass." "Oh you're looking are you?" "What can I say? It's big enough that your eyes kind of... naturally... look..." She trails off, her eyes flickering to something else. You turn and match her gaze, surprised to see Jungkook and Taehyung walking in the cafeteria... holding hands? "Are they in love?" Mina asks aloud. "Funnily enough they're apart of our friend group too."

She snaps around to look at you, "who the hell is in your friend group and how do I become a part of it?" You almost laugh again but manage to hold it back, "seven boys, two girls. I'm sure we could use another girl to balance it a bit. Some of them don't go to school anymore though. But there's Namjoon, Jin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook, myself, and Seulgi." "I have no idea who Jimin, Jin, and Namjoon are but I've heard of the others." "You've heard of Jimin too," you point out. She takes a moment, then facepalms. "Oh my God his name is Jimin? That's so hot." "I know right?" you gush.

Mina laughs and looks at you, "okay wait - do you like him?" "Who doesn't? He's the hot teacher. But I wouldn't go for him, I wouldn't want to risk his career. I mean he's not technically my teacher anymore but still." She raises a brow, "if he's not your teacher anymore then why not go for it? It's his choice if he wants to risk his career, not yours." Well... that's a good point. "Sure but you know, I don't want to like tempt him or anything. Plus he's my friend, I don't want to ruin our friendship." Yes, what a great, great friendship you have Y/n.

"If it makes you feel any better, I'd support it. And not just because he's hot." Now it's your turn to ask questions. "Wait what? What do you mean?" She shrugs, "I don't know, all the rumors say you and him laugh a lot together. I'm no relationship expert but laughing is one of the most important factors in a partnership in my opinion." Why is this random popular girl making so much sense right now? Are you dreaming?

"You think?" "Oh I know. Everyone says you two look closer than friends." You softly smile, "we're really good friends. It's like that feeling when you instantly click with someone, you know? It's a breath of fresh air to be comfortable around someone." Mina gives you a precious look that makes your heart melt. Maybe she's really not that bad. "I know we don't know each other, but for what it's worth I'm really glad you have someone like that."

She motions to Jungkook and Taehyung, who are laughing together on the other side of the dining hall. They're all alone, sitting across from one another. Honestly... it's pretty cute. "Even if they're not romantic with each other, it looks like they have a great friendship. And seeing those kinds of friendships make me smile," she softly says. You look between the three girls, "do you three have that kind of friendship?" They all fist bump right away. "Of course!" Lisa exclaims, Dahyun giggling and back-hugging her.

Mina watches them with a loving look, you going soft at the expression she gives her friends. You know, college really isn't that bad after all. There's been some downs (the fight, your grades, battling your feelings for your teacher), but there's also been more ups than you can count. And one of them is that the people aren't nearly as bad as you thought they'd be. Looking at these three - who are genuinely good friends - it brings you joy. Not everything is fake after all. Like Jimin's feelings for you... just one look at him and you can tell how real they are. You find yourself turning red at the thought of him. Maybe you love him. You smile and mentally chuckle.
