A/n - I decided to leave the baseball game out (EP-12) as the plot was kind of hard to write.

Ever since that incident at Kyoto, Karasuma proposed to the principal that there should be gym classes where students learn how to defend themselves without the use of magic.

The principal agreed, but he turned it into a program where parents could pay money for their kids to learn these skills. It was like an afterschool activity.

Since Karasuma was the only gym teacher that had a background in the fighting industry, he was the one in charge of teaching self-defense. And because Karasuma was your teacher, your class had the privilege of being taught for free. Karasuma had made 3 out of the 5 school days be focused on fighting in gym.

~~~~~~
It has probably been around two months since the start of self-defense classes and Karasuma could see that everyone's defense skills have improved.
Isogai and Maehara can work well together against their opponent, and Karma is a natural fighter. Okano, with her gymnast past, can easily defend herself and Kataoka's physical performance and rival the guys. As for you, you've been progressing slowly, taking your time to learn and master the basics of dodging before attacking.
While dodging Karasuma-sensei's attacks in your sparring with him, you saw in the corner of your eye that Nagisa was about to try and strike him with a punch. You stopped for a second to see what Nagisa was going to do.
Karasuma looked confused for a split second until his reflexes made him block Nagisa and throw him to the ground. You took this chance to try and hit Karasuma-sensei, but he, unfortunately, blocked you too, also throwing you to the ground.
You noticed for a split second that when you tried to hit him, your hand seemed like it was holding a wand rather than curled up into a fist.
Karasuma looked stunned for a moment. It was like a snake and a swan teamed up to attack him. But when Karasuma put his hands on you, he felt a small spark travel up his arm. Everyone stopped sparring and most people went over to you guys.
"Sorry!" Karasuma immediately apologized. "I put a little too much force into my blocks there."
Nagisa rubbed his neck. "Oh, I'm fine." He looked over to you. "Are you alright Haru?"
You sat up but felt a pain in your wrist. "I think I landed on my hand wrong..." You hissed. Karasuma went over to you and helped you up.
"You gotta keep an eye on them, especially Nagisa, he's a dummy," Sugino joked.
When Karasuma moved your right wrist, you flinched a little. "Looked like it's sprained. It's not severe, but it's not mild either. Sorry Haru-kun," Karasuma stated.
"No, it's fine, I shouldn't have gone for the attack anyway," You laughed it off.
"Can someone take Haru-kun to the infirmary?" Karasuma looked around. He saw Karma sitting on the sidelines and decided he could take you to the nurse's office. Karma agreed and he walked you there.
"You idiot," Karma put a fist on your head, "What made you think you could hit Karasuma-sensei?"
"I don't know," You said. "It was like something took over me and I just moved on my own." You balled up your uninjured hand.
"You probably would have still gotten hurt if you hit that guy," Karma said. "He's built like a rock." Karma showed you his hand where his knuckles were somewhat red. You laughed.
You tried to recall back to the sparring. Even though you saw Nagisa in the corner of your eye, you couldn't help but be surprised as if he showed up out of nowhere.
"Hey, Karma, you've known Nagisa for the longest right?" You spoke, "Does he already have a talent for fighting? He seemed to know what he was doing for a second."
Karma raised an eyebrow. "No? He's never gotten into fights that I know of." He thought back to his friendship with the bluenette. "He sometimes gives off this certain energy though."
~~~~~~

After your hand was treated and wrapped up in bandages, you and Karma went back to the gym to see a large man approaching your class who was holding many paper bags.

"Hey! I'm Takaoka Akira, and I'll be assisting Karasuma as of today!" He announced. "Nice to meet you, witches and wizards!"

Everyone soon found out what was in the paper bags he was holding. "Wh-what's all this?"

"C-cake!"

"And élcairs from Le Hermes!" Your classmates were awed when Takaoka said you guys could eat them.

"Are you sure?" Isogai's mouth dropped. "They look expensive."

"Go on, eat up!" Takaoka raised his hands. "I emptied my wallet for this, so don't hold back!"

You and Karma joined the group in marveling at the deserts. You just took an élcair because (favorite dessert) wasn't one of the various cake options. Karma didn't seem to take anything though.

"I'm here to lighten Karasuma's load in defense training," Takaoka explained. "I'll be teaching you guys how to fight without magic for the next couple of weeks!"

Normally, humans wouldn't willingly go over here because they are scared of what they don't know and most witches/wizards don't have a background in self-defense like Karasuma does. Despite not being a magic user, he was hired by the principal because he was willing to travel over here.

You also learned that Karasuma and Takaoka were childhood friends before Karasuma moved over to the magic lands to enhance his skills in wizardry.

"For friends, you and Karasuma-sensei are like day and night," Kimura said.

"You're like the neighborhood dad!" Hara joked.

Takaoka laughed. "Dad, huh? I like that!" He wrapped his arms around you and Nakamura's neck. "We're in the same class, so that makes us family, right?"

You smiled up at him. That honestly didn't sound bad. You loved your real dad, despite the fact he doesn't love you as much back, but having an actual loving "dad" for a month or two sounds nice.

This originally was going to be one chapter, but it got too long so I'm splitting it up into two separate chapters.

Also, I had Karasuma think of Y/n as a swan because mute swans can be surprisingly dangerous if you give them the right motive to attack you and they are seen as graceful animals.

Not going to lie, I literally spelled Karasuma as Karmasuma like 20 times while writing this.
