CHAPTER TWO; IN WHICH, HE TAUNTS HER.
—————SCHOOL AND EDUCATION was never my forte. No matter how much work and study time I put into my classes, I never improved. In fact, I got worse.
And now things are so different. I can't even get on a bus without being disturbed. Yet, he still had my earbuds in his hands. Frustrated, I turned around to see him sitting next to a pale boy with black curly hair who I assumed to be his friend.
They both laughed at my expression. I angrily snatched back my wired earbuds and put them back in my ears, ignoring their immature taunting.
I turned up my music to drown them out. Unlike some of my other schools which required an hour of bus riding, the school was only a 20 minute ride away so I got off as swiftly as I could.
My heart dropped when I saw the two boys get off with me as well. Great. I walked to the front desk to collect my time table and some other documents.
The lady was extremely nice and had chosen someone to help me get around for the day. For a second I thought my luck would fail me once again and I would get paired with one of those boys but it was a charming girl from my year.
"This is Eden." The lady spoke to me. "She's in your class and will be helping you find your lessons."
She smiled at me kindly when I made eye contact with her.
"Hi. My name's Eden Moon. Most people call me Moon." She said with an inviting tone.
"My name's Madeline Blair. You can call me Maddy or Mads; whatever you want. I really don't mind."
"My pronouns are they/she! What are yours?" She grinned.
"Uhh, she/they, thanks for asking." I gave a timid smile in reply.
"Sexuality?"
"Not sure. I just go with the flow."
"So.. unlabelled maybe?"
"That sounds about right." I laughed "What are you?"
"Pansexual, thanks for asking! Lets get on shall we?"
We talk on the way to our form room, she does most of the talking where as I just listened.
She showed me my seat and I sat down, trying to pay attention to what was going on even though the teacher wasn't speaking.
I took out my book and began reading. A few minutes later, our teacher quietened the now loud and rowdy class.
This new school was small so there was 2 classes per year and about 15 people per class. The school only went from Year 7 to 11. So, it's not like I'll miss much if I do end up moving.
I closed my book and listened intently, making sure I got each and every detail of the speech she gave.
And then she called me up. Of course, I'm new aren't I.
I stood up and slowly made my way over.
"This is Madeline. This is her first year here. You might've already spoken to her, I trust you'll be kind with your words." She said softly.
And with that, she sent me back to my seat. No one took notice of me until I was called up. Now everyone was staring at me, as usual.
I don't blame them, I'm new, but there's no need to stare. Classes were simple and went by quickly. I was making my way to lunch when someone tapped my shoulder.
I turned around expecting to see Eden, or even a teacher, but it was a boy with black hair. The one from the bus.
"Hi." I spoke.
"You look shocked, never seen a guy before?" He laughed.
"What.. yes, I've seen a guy before." I replied with as little annoyance as I could.
"You were fierce on the bus this morning."
"We'll, you were being annoying."
"Hey, I didn't do anything!" He said, putting his hands up defensively.
"I know, it was the guy next to you. Who is he?"
"You don't know him? He's in about all of your classes."
Oh brother.
"I haven't seen him. Yet."
"Oh, you'll see him soon enough. Speaking of the devil.." He said, staring behind me.
I turned around to see the same boy from this morning and the weekend. I frowned.
"Why the long face? Not happy to see me?"
"Not really.." I grumbled, not loud enough for them to hear.
"So, how are you Blondie?" He said with a smile.
The name caught me off guard.
"What? Why did you call me that?"
"Cause I want to call you that. Remember, at the park?"
Oh yes, the song.
"Okay? So? It's just a song?"
"Okay fine. Just a song." He said as they both walked off.
What a weirdo.
I frowned once more before going to find Eden. We sat and ate lunch together. After what the curly haired boy said, I did realise that the guy was in pretty much all of my classes.
I just figured I'd have to ignore him.
Oh how wrong I was.
