CHAPTER THREE; IN WHICH, MADELINE MAKES A MISTAKE.
—————I SAW THE boy hanging with some assholes earlier, I figured his friend group we're not so 'good' and probably tormented other kids.
I ended up having triple maths and double history on my timetable. Can't wait. For now, I was waiting outside school with Eden.
"What you doing tonight?" They asked me.
"Nothing much, probably homework."
"I could call you to sort something out?" They suggested.
"Cool but, I don't have your number." I laughed.
"Oh, here." They gave me their phone with the new contact information. I typed in my number and my name.
They sent me a message and I replied to save them as a contact. I clicked on their contact and typed 'Eden' and added a smiley face on the end.
The bell rang and I shoved my phone in my back pocket while me and Eden set off for class.
We had History and Maths together but were then split up for English. We parted ways and I found the room I needed to be in.
I already knew the teacher, he was kind and very funny. I think I made a good impression since he waved when I walked through the door. I hope he knows how hard it is to be a newbie.
I sat down near the front to get a better view.
I pulled out my workbooks and started writing down the notes on the board. I heard muffled chatter from behind me but ignored it.
I sat by myself on an empty row of seats. I didn't mind, I can concentrate a lot easier without people distracting me.
The lesson went well but I was called back at the end.
"Madeline, there's a problem. One of our students is struggling and falling behind. Since you are one of our best, could you help him?"
"Of course, I'd be happy to! Would I have to come here or..?"
"No, it's tutoring. You two would meet up outside of school, preferably at each other's houses."
"Sure! Who is it?"
*******
"Oh come on Madeline, he can't be that bad!"
"Really? You think? Cause I've just agreed to tutor him for however long it takes to get his grades up!"
I ended up agreeing to tutor that boy from the bus.
"Who is he anyways?" Eden asked.
"His name's Jayden or something, but it's spelt differently. With an e. It's like J-A-E-D-E-N, or something."
"Oh no. Can you get out of it?" They frowned.
"No, is he bad?" I asked.
"He's.. not the best."
"Oh brother." I sighed.
"Does he like you, as a friend I mean?" Eden rambled.
"I don't know, it's weird. I'm pretty sure I'm not on his good list though."
"Cancel all your plans tonight. We're going out."
"What, where?"
"Anywhere. But we're going." Eden stated.
"You sure?"
"Very."
