Chapter song// The Script - Nothing

"They all think I'm crazy but to me it's perfect sense"

"Meghan?" She had her back to me and was ambling along slowly, dragging her feet as she went. At the sound of my voice she paused but didn't turn around. I slowly reached out my shaking hands and spun her around to face me, disgusted with the distorted face that stared back at me.

It's jaw hung at a crooked angle so even though it's mouth was shut, I could still see the perfect lines of yellow teeth stained with blood. Dribble laced with thick, black blood trickled from the corner of its mouth. The little bit of straw hair that was glued to the scalp had been pulled out in places and was covered in dirt, with broken sticks tangled in it. Nothing about this zombie resembled my niece. Where Meghan's eyes were a deep blue, it's eyes were grey and emotionless.

I let out a noise that resembled a strangled cat before jamming the knife in its head, not bothering to remove it as stray tears leaked through my eyes. How could I mistake this monster as my niece. My sweet, innocent niece.

Coming to my senses, I realised just how lost I was. The group had moved on without me and I was hidden behind a train car. I watched as the walkers shuffled by, oblivious to my hiding place. I was weaponless as I remembered my only knife that was jammed into the dead walkers skull. I tried to pull the knife from the walkers head, but it was stuck. The handle eventually became slick with blood and my hands kept slipping. I cried out in frustration as I realised just how far up shit creek I actually was, catching the attention of a nearby walker as I kicked a metal barrel, knocking it over and sending it rolling noisily along the ground.

"Shit," I didn't bother keeping my voice quiet as the shitbags had already noticed me, but I regret kicking the barrel, I've just given myself a death sentence. The walker growled at me as it approached, swaying its arms that revealed parts of bone sticking out at funny angles. The little bit of discoloured hair that was loosely hanging from its bare scalp was dirty and bloodstained.

This commotion had caught the attention of several more walkers, all turning and making their way towards the fresh meat. I slipped through a fire exit to escape them, and slammed it shut as they begun to bang on the door; demanding entrance.

It was pitch black. I couldn't even see my hand outstretched before me, let alone any dangers that may be lurking around; I was completely vulnerable, weaponless, and I hate to admit it-scared.

Turning a corner, blind, I was met with a room with dozens of candles , all placed on the floor in no particular order. The light from the candles illuminated the room, making the messages stained in blood more obvious and luminous.

In block letters were words such as, 'WE FIRST ALWAYS' and 'NEVER AGAIN'. I tried to distinguish the inside meanings of these words. These words drove the terminus group to carry on their cannibalistic ways, yet to me they meant nothing. Each lit candle meant something, yet to me they meant nothing.

"Drop your weapons and turn around," a voice called out, her words echoing off the blood stained walls. As I had no weapons, I placed my hands up and slowly turned to face the cannibal who I first met here. Mary. The one with the loose side plait and dirty blonde hair. "I said drop your weapons!" She said more forcefully.

"I don't have any," I answered truthfully. She surveyed my body before relaxing her grip on the gun; seeing I had no weapons on me. "You're a sick bastard," I accused, "your what people used to call mentally unstable. How could your humanity lead you to this?" I asked gesturing to not just the flickering candles but to the train cars full of people and to the human troughs, "to eating people?"
