I yelped as something banged on the window beside me. A vulgar walker was clawing at the window, gnawing at the glass, trying to take a bite from me. I placed my hand over my heart trying to restart it before I took care of the walker. Before it caught any unwanted attention.

"Can I borrow a knife?" I asked, remembering that I hadn't picked up a new weapon yet.

"Where's yours?" He asked while reaching into his pocket.

"I lost it at terminus, haven't had time to find a new one yet," he handed me a small knife, and my fingers recognised the patterns engraved into the handle, and the scratches on the silver blade. It was the knife from terminus. The one he snatched from my hands. The one I fell in love with. I rolled the window down just enough to reach my knife through, and impaled the knife through the walkers head. It slid down the glass, leaving a trail of smeared blood, before collapsing to the floor. I wiped the walker blood on my pants before handing it back to him.

"Keep it," he mumbled, refusing to take the knife, "you don't have a weapon, and I'm not gonna protect you." Even though he brushed it of as his normal selfish actions, it was meaningful to me. I was no longer scared that he'd kill me in my sleep.

"Thanks," I beamed, sliding the knife into my pocket.

"We gotta find somewhere to hole up till sunlight."

"I know a place, a few blocks from here," the place Tara worked. A bunch of law firm office buildings. There was a back door that Tara used to sneak out of to make out with her boyfriend, or to see me, this door was now vandalised with graffiti and engulfed with green vines and moss. Daryl made a loud job at opening it, firstly having to cut away the vines. I swung my head around looking for any sign that a walker may of heard us; it's dangerous being this close to the city at night.

Upon entering the main lobby, a lone walker was propped up against the wall, still dressed in a security uniform. Daryl swiftly bend over the walker, and swiped the keys that dangled from his side pocket. The keys rattled against each other and echoed throughout the desolate halls-Daryl quickly silenced them.

I led Daryl through a series of halls, before I came to the door leading to the rooms. Daryl hovered the torch over my head as I fumbled around with the keys-trying to find the right one.
The door clicked open and we were enveloped in darkness, our only source of light coming from Daryl's torch.
Rounding the corner skeptically, I eventually found the rooms. Nothing special. A bunk bed opposite a lone window with a simple nightstand.

"What is this place?" Daryl questioned, removing the torch from his mouth and clicking it off.

"Temporary housing. For people who worked double shifts. This was my sisters work, sometimes I'd stay here if I was waiting for her to get off work."

Daryl propped his crossbow up against the nightstand, in an easy place to grab.

"I'll take the top bunk, I think the bottoms more your style. You like pink right?" I mocked.

"Happens to be my favourite colour," he announced removing his leather jacket and slinging it on the bottom bunk.

"I'll take first watch," I said skeptically, still not 100% sure he won't suffocate me in my sleep.
