Chapter 9: A Deal with Death

3rd POV

Zeno's debut was a success, the sub count already neared half of his goal of 420k subs. Of course, such success was also demeaned with a lot of criticism and skeptical arguments.

But those are the norm when it comes to Hololive's new generation of talents. A lot were of course admittedly jealous and a lot feel like they deserve it more than the one who debuted.

However, those who argued and were skeptical about Zeno's success were soon shut down with Zeno's past performance in GGO tournaments. Other than that, the other two themselves, Enma and Kaito were admittedly talented individuals as well.

Kaito's art was more than enough to shut down any dissatisfaction from others, while Enma's situation is more comedic and complicated.

Enma was infamous for his horrible plot points and stories as such, color people were surprised when they found out that even though those stories were admittedly horrible in the views of a lot of authors and writers, they can't ignore the fact that a lot of people still read it.

This confused a lot of writers and they wracked their brain cells trying to figure out how Enma still has a huge fanbase that reads his horrible stories.

Then they found out why and we're gobsmacked. Enma was confirmed to be a masochist by his fanbase, and as such, flaming him and saying derogatory words only fuels him to write horrible stories further. The fans also found it pleasing to have someone they can look down on and best up for their own satisfaction.

It got to the point that Yagoo nearly had to step in but then an incident happen. The incident changed everyone's views on Enma.

When the news first blew up, no one wanted to believe it. But when they saw it with their own two eyes, they had to conceive defeat.

Enma had apparently beaten the top Go, Shogi, and Chess players around the world. It was then that some more shrewd authors found out and realized that Enma's "Masochistic" tendencies were just a market strategy that Enma implied to gain a massive fanbase.

A lot of authors who realized this was enraged and shouted out their thoughts. What they didn't know was that it was also part of Enma's so-called market strategy.

Yagoo knew about Enma's scheme a long time ago and even knows that he can't really stop Enma from doing what he wants.

As someone who made a gamble with Death and came out on top, Enma was not afraid of anything or anyone in this world anymore.

As such, haters continued piling up one after another against Enma. But surprisingly, this didn't affect the others. Instead, the other girls and members of Hololive saw a massive uplift in their sub counts as various people supported them under the banner of "Protecting the innocent ones from the clutches of the evil Lord Enma.".

In Kaito's perspective, Enma was attracting all the bad eggs that can destroy or damage Hololive's reputation and drawing it all to himself. He even relishes in the attention given to him.

As such when it was Enma's day of debut. What waited for him in the chat was not the friendly audience that Hololive has but the haters that wanted to defame and discourage Enma from continuing as a part of Holo: Divers.

However, there was a silver lining. Amongst those who watched Enma's debut, it wasn't just haters. Some genuinely liked his content, some who just wants to watch and enjoy the show, and lastly, some who were just curious about what the buzz was all about.

To say that the debut was something else would be a lie, Enma showcased his own charm and was able to turn the hater's hatred against them and the debut suddenly transformed into Enma roasting said haters and boy did it leave everyone who wasn't a hater laughing their ass off.

It was a sight to behold, Zeno and Kaito who were at the lounge at that time were laughing their asses off along with some of the members of the 3rd generation. Namely Pekora, Noel, and Flare.

Since then, Enma's title as the Evil Lord Enma stuck to him and became his actual title, while his fans, named as Diciples, loved his theatrics and content.

As of the moment, Enma was sitting with in front of a laptop and staring intently at the camera.

Zeno who happened to pass by saw the intense look on his face and decided to eavesdrop.

"Listen here and listen well, you shall obey my words and no harm shall come to you!"

Zeno raised an eyebrow at that. It sounded as if Enma was threatening someone.

However, a familiar feminine voice responded back ruthlessly.

"Fuck off old man, did Sensei put you up for this?"

"Oi! I am not old!"

"Says the living prehistoric homosapien."

Zeno's laughter was then heard by both Enma and the know confirmed Calliope Mori on the other end and they both blushed in embarrassment.

"I-I'm sorry, do continue your uh, discussion. Pfft!"

Unable to take Zeno's laughter any longer, Enma threw a fireball at Zeno which he dodged and ran away laughing.

He looked back at the camera and stared at Calli.

"This conversation stays between us, now I have a wolf to roast into ashes."

"Agreed"

With that said and done, Enma turned off the laptop and inclined on the chair. He reminisced about his time in the Underworld.

Back then, he had no trouble fitting in as his life was full of experience, countless weird situations he had to deal with and so many more that the Underworld was nothing new to him.

Still, death was a haunting experience to date and he rather not experience it again. Speaking of death, he remembered his first encounter with Death-sensei.

Enma: Well look who it is, the big and the bad grim reaper of hell.

Death: I have an offer you can't refuse.

Enma: Uhuh, shoot.

Death: I can bring you back to life--

Enma: I'm in.

Death: And- what? That's it?"

Enma: Eyup! What? It's boring down here, everyone either wants to fight, fight, have sex, fight more, and then have more se--

Death: Stop stop, the viewers are gonna kill the author if you continue.

Enma: The who now?

Death: Nevermind, now follow me. We still need to discuss the specifics.

Enma: Now we're talking, also, I gotta say, the gender orientation in this place is confusing as women.

Death: Sigh...

Enma got a good laugh at that one. Who knew Death's number one nemesis was paperwork? Then again, it's everyone's nemesis.

With that said, Enma stood up from his chair and went on to hunt a certain wolf wyvern. Who by now has spread what he had heard from Calli and Enma.

A-chan who was watching from afar saw all of these happen in the span of five minutes and decided to nope out of there.

It was just another day in the Hololive HQ.

I can't believe it either people, I actually updated! Holy shit. Although this is short as I still have other real-life stuff to do and don't have much time to write as usual.

Totally not focused on hunting monsters in MHW. Totally.

That is all for now, I don't exactly know when will I update but seeing so many people asking when BW will update made me motivated and as such, I'll try to write as much as possible when I can yeah?
