POLICE CORPORAL Jackie Santos found herself at a bar counter after her long hours of duty. She's been sitting alone for an hour now, trying to drink down a memory that resurfaced after the short talk with that UM college student. The case of the female student was still fresh in her mind, despite it being months away already.

It hurts, of course, for her to know about the second victim of the man who could've been behind bars, but what hurts her the most is the fact that doing something about these two poor girl's cases was her dream. She cares about the poor, about the injustices, about the people who are unfairly treated by those with power. That's why she decided to become a police officer. But as the years passed by in her service, the more it became clear to her that justice is easy in words, but not in deeds.

As soon as she gulped her bottle of beer and set it down on the counter table, she ordered another from the barmaid. Bumili na rin siya rito ng isang pack ng sigarilyo, saka sinindihan ang isang stick.

"Mukhang problemado tayo madam ah," said a guy who just sat beside her. He ordered one bottle of beer to the barmaid. He glanced at Jackie when she didn't even bother to answer.

She studied him and saw that he didn't look like the typical guy who could be a regular at any bar or club. He seemed decent, from his features to his garments. He seemed about her age—late twenties or something. "Mmm," she concurred, "something you shouldn't be minding."

The guy smiled at her. "I'm Steve, by the way," he introduced.

"Santos."

The man waited for more. "Is that your surname—?"

"Listen, ginoo, you don't need to start the game with me. If you want sex, sabihin mo lang," Santos said. There's no hint of anger in her voice—nor even a tone to shove him. She doesn't sound horny or interested in him either. In fact, she sounded so tired, as if having sex with him was only a leisure for her while forgetting the fact that she'd be turning another blind eye to another injustice again.

Steve raised both of his hands in surrender. He chuckled for a moment. "I'm sorry if I appeared like it, but no, Binibining Santos, I'm not trying to seduce you to fuck me," he said, taking a sip from his beer. He looked at her and said: "I just noticed you sitting here for like an hour. And because I don't want to sit alone also for hours, I assumed you didn't want the same so I came. Pero mukhang ayaw mo yata muna ng kausap."

Santos stared at him for a while. She didn't hear any sort of annoyance for what she said to him. "You don't look like a junkie to me. Mukhang may problema ka rin yata at mag-isa ka rin dito," Santos started, changing the subject.

"Something you shouldn't be minding," Steve replied. That, finally, gave Santos a broad smile, while he had a short laugh. "At dahil mukhang hindi kita mapipilit kausapin ako, babalik na ako kung saan ako nanggaling," he said, before grabbing his bottle of beer in a table, where she believed was where he was before sitting down beside her.

But he only made three steps when Jackie turned around to him. "Hindi mo pa rin nasasagot ang tinatanong ko, ginoo."

Steve turned his back to her and was about to ask what she meant, until he saw her smiling at him. Realizing what she was talking about, he said: "Gaya ng sagot ko kanina, hindi pumunta sa isip ko ang akitin ka upang makipagtalik, binibini," Steve answered. He then smirked. "But because I like your smile, magagawan natin 'yan ng paraan."

The next thing Santos knew, she was on top of him, feeling every pleasure of his manhood thrusting inside of her. They both knew that they'd just met recently, but they felt each other's body romantically, their kisses very deep, like they'd known each other for years.
