Jirou's POV:

"Momo, I love you."

She didn't answer. I looked down at her sleeping face. I started to cough up a few petals into my hand. I held them tightly and stuffed them into my pocket. The door suddenly opened. Todoroki stood there confused. I had forgotten she said she was supposed to be going out with him this evening. It probably looked a bit suspicious—or rather weird—with her asleep on top of me. Undoubtedly, not suspicious—Momo was clearly his.

I cleared my throat, "Momo wasn't feeling the greatest today, so she confided in me."

He nodded his head, "Well, thank you for taking care of her."

He shook her, "Momo, get up. We have plans, remember.?"

She sat up slowly, taking in her surroundings once she was upright. She looked at me, then at him.

"Right. Sorry."

They left. She left. She didn't even spare me a single glance or goodbye. Her attention immediately transitioned to him once she saw him, confirming that Momo was clearly his and would never be mine.

~Days Later~

Momo's POV:
I didn't realize I was staring at the purple-haired girl until Todoroki snapped me out of my trance.

"Momo, are you okay?" He whispered. "You seem to be zoning out a lot today."

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine."

As the bell rang, Aizawa-sensi dismissed everyone, except me. Jirou's eyes fell on me then darted away before she walked out with Kaminari.

He approached my desk, tapping his fingers on his side.

"Yaoyorozu, are you okay?"

"Yes, why wouldn't I be?"

"You seem less talkative than usual."

"Oh? It wasn't intentional."

The look on his face screamed he didn't buy it.

"I know it's none of my business of what you kids do, but it seems like you're going through something. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'll be here to help you."

"Thank you."

Suddenly, I felt a flower forming in my throat. I grabbed my aching chest and stood up quickly, but Aizawa-sensi grabbed my arm. I couldn't stop the half blossomed flowers coming out of my mouth.

"So that's what it is," he said, clicking his tongue.

He ushered me to Recovery Girl immediately.

"She has hanahaki," he crossed his arms.

"May I ask who's the person you have a one-sided love for?" Recovery Girl asked, analyzing my face.

She glanced at the sleepy-headed teacher to leave. Once he left, I began.

"I don't love her though."

The words made me cough up more purple petals.

"I'm assuming this her  is Kyouka Jirou?"

I nodded my head.

She brought her hands to her waist, "Momo, do you think you may be in denial?"

"What do you mean?"

"Of your sexuality."

I pinched the bridge of my nose, "Recovery Girl, are you trying to say I'm gay?"

She let out a light chuckle, "It may be so. What's wrong with that?"

"Nothing, but I'm not."

"Well, that's up for you to decide, but people don't just cough up flowers for no reason. Although it is rare, denial can give you the disease, too. While you're pushing down your true feelings, without being aware of how the other may feel, it imitates an unrequited love. It makes it seem like you're the only one experiencing these strong feelings when that may not be the case. Your feelings for her may not be returned because you're not letting them be, that is if you love her of course."
