Date.

Will was on a date.

I know it shouldn't surprise me. He's allowed to do that and I'm sure many girls ask him out or he does. I know hes dated before and every time the affect it has on me is the same.

I pretend I'm ok.

It's not Wills fault that inside my mind a tornado of emotions are whirling. He has no clue.

"Who was he with?" I asked Jason nonchalantly.

"Don't know." He shrugs. "But she's hot." He adds as if this will help me recognize her.

Before I could ask him another question, the movie started.

For at least a little while I enjoyed the movie but on more than one occasion my mind went back to Will and his date. By the end of the movie I came to the conclusion that it didn't matter and it was none of my business. My irrational heart is the one who felt betrayed when the truth was: I have no claim on him. As his friend I should be happy for him and accept it. Plus, I was making a much bigger deal of this than it really was. With my mental pep talk and new resolve Jason and I were exiting the theater when my wonderful little brother called out "Hey Will, over here!"

I froze as I heard them approaching from Jasons side.

Relax Ellena, its going to be fine like always. Just act like the mature adult you have to be.

With my nerves under control I raised my head in the direction my brother Jason had shouted and met a pair of beautiful stormy blue eyes but just as quickly I looked away to see his date.

It was Rebecca our co-worker and looking beautiful in her outfit. Her long lustrous auburn hair in a fashionable ponytail with a few loose strands framing her face enhanced by the makeup she was wearing and her grey eyes shining with joy.

Rebecca and I were not friends but she has never been mean to me or anybody that I know of at work. In fact many at work talk well of her because of what she has done and I've heard her talk about it too a few times. I rarely assist her but we occasionally take lunch at the same time but do not speak to each other besides exchanging pleasantries or when we are with a patient.

Once they reached us Will said "Hey Jason." Then turned to me and in his deep voice that I felt everywhere said "Hello Ellena."

"Hi William." I managed to get out and pretty proud of how steady I sounded. "Hey Rebecca. So good to see you."

"Its so nice to see you Ellena." Rebecca said to me with a smile. "I met you brother earlier while Will was buying our snacks. He is so funny and quite a cutie."

The way she said it had me thinking he was going to pinch my brothers checks. My brother just blushed at her compliments.

"What movie did you guys watch?" I asked Rebecca directly. When she answered that they saw the same movie I wasn't surprised. But I was surprised to know they were at the same screening and were sitting two rows behind us. How did that escape my notice? I was too busy thinking about the past and Sam.

Sam.

I let a small sigh escape me as I thought of her. We would have seen the movie together if it weren't for the way we left things last time we spoke. I glanced down at my phone to see if she had texted me back.
