The dark space in the belly of the blimp bores me. I twirl a knife in my hands and sit cross-legged on a box. I hum a tune from the back of my mind and balance the knife by the point. I grip the handle hard and throw it in the air. I catch the blade on the tip of my finger and balance the dagger.

A thud comes from upstairs. I hear a dull yell as chaos erupts.  My eyes flick upwards as sand falls from the ceiling.

"Finally, a little action." I grin.

I hide myself behind the ladder to the cargo. The idiots don't even care to look behind them. The idiots carry flares that do a shitty job at lighting the hold. I climb up the stairs and tug the trap door closed. With a thud, I disappear once again.

"No. No. No.  No.  No. open the door." The boy yells.

The second one beats on the door. They quickly give up and climb back down.

"She's here." The girl wispers.

They draw their weapons and walk farther into the maze of crates and barrels. I make a show of running between the creates. I press my toe on a loose board, the scream echoes through the airship. The first one is startled and drops their flare. I hoist myself onto the rafters and take my dagger In my hands. I pull the first one behind the crates and slit his throat before watching the someone panick. I slip behind her and pull the pin to one of the many bombs attached to her chest.

"Boom."

I grin as I climb up the ladder and nudge the door open. Purple smoke emerges from below deck from the bomb. I cross my arms over my chest and hold back a grin. I glance around the deck and find Sevika in a pile of yellow stones. Her cold eyes find mine and the grin slips onto my features.

"Hi," I say.

In one swift movement, my bombs are off my belt and in my hands. I tug the pin lose with my teeth and throw them at two of my attackers. The bombs attach to their clothing and the firelights stumble back. They back over the railing, and I hear the satisfying boom before they reach the water.

I reach for my pistol. The first attacker throws two disks at me. I dodge easily and fire on him. He topples over the edge as well. I hear a sharp whoosh of metal slicing through the wind. I jump back slightly as a spear is jabbed into the ground in front of me.

"Cute."

I aim for his head and don't miss. The gun stuns him. My foot connects with his temple, and he stumbles backwards before tripping over air. I grip his spear in my hands and swing myself up before planting my feet on the back of his head. Another attacker is dumping the shimmer barrels. I snap my head up and cross over to them. One lights a flare; I grab their wrist before they can light the shimmer on fire. My hand connects with their helmet and the mask flies from their face.

A jolt runs through my body as I recognize the girl with cropped pink hair.

"Vi?" I ask.

My mind turns and the world blurs into another picture. I see her face as she slaps me, yelling at me, blaming me. I see her hugging me, a flare. I see us playing together on the door steps of the last drop. The girl releases the flare and the ground beneath us light ablaze.

"This is your fault." I hear her voice in my mind. "You should have died with your brother."

I hold the girl by the arm. Vi, powder, Claggor, Mylo. The girl tugs free. I shoot her before she takes three steps.

"No!" Another firelight member yells.

I hold the pistol above my head, breathing hard. My hand slides down the side of my face. I savor the cool metal against my skin. My heart hammers in my chest. The metal reminds me of reality, of what happened and where I am. Most importantly, who I am.
