Sophia

I took a deep breath as I entered Honolulu Middle School. Its my first day in middle school and I hope I can make friends.

I went straight to the office to ask for my class schedule and my locker number. Good thing there are helpful signs from the main door that points you directly to the registrar's office.

"Ahmmm... Hello. Can I please have my schedule," I asked the lady through the circular hole on the glass window. Based on the label on the glass, her name's Ms. Jones.

The lady looked up from whatever it is she's reading and studied my face for like five seconds. "Good morning dear, I am Ms. Jones. First day in middle school?"

I nodded my head in agreement then she gave me a friendly smile.

"Welcome to Honolulu Middle School darling. What's your name so that I can look up your schedule for you," she asked me while she is opening a drawer right under her desk.

"S-Sophia," I silently cursed myself for stammering. "Its Sophia Cole."

Ms. Jones looked through her files clearly looking for my name then, "Ah, here it is. Sophia Cole."

She handed me a folder that has my name on it while she explains what the different papers inside are.

"The first one page contains your schedule for the entire year. The second is a map of the entire school. The last page contains the details regarding your locker," she states while I flip through the each page that she mentioned.

I looked back at Ms. Jones friendly face and said, "Thank you," before I turned around to look for my locker.

It took me around 20 minutes to find my locker. Its really a good thing the I went to school pretty early today.

I then made my way to my first ever class in middle school, my favorite, Math. Yeah, note the sarcasm.

I took a deep breath as I entered my classroom preparing myself for the awkward, first-day-of-school-self-introduction.

The first three hours of my first day in middle school went by really fast and I must say, I am having fun. I even made friends with one girl who has the exact schedule that I have, Gabby. She is a cute, petite girl with brown hair that has soft curls. Her skin, well let's just say that you won't believe she's from Hawaii. She probably has the fairest skin out of all the kids in our class--heck probably in our year.

Strangely enough, we look totally different from each other seeing as I am a very normal looking girl. And trust me when I say normal. I am not gorgeous but I don't think I am hideous, at least, in my mom's opinion. I have an average height, weight, and tanned skin. Probably the only thing Gabby and I have in common is our hair. I have dark brown curly hair that I like to restrain with a pony tail. My only feature that I think is special, my eyes. I have big brown eyes with thick lashes. The worst thing about me? Compare to most girls our age, I have a bigger chest area. That sucks considering that I really can't wear tank tops and bikinis.

"Ready for lunch? Because I sure am freakin' hungry," Gabby looked at me as I try to fit in all my things inside my locker.

"Yeah. But I am on a diet. I gained a few pounds over the summer," I scrunched up my nose then looked at my chest and arms while we were on our way to the cafeteria.

Gabby gave me an incredulous look, "Wait. Don't tell me. It seems to me that you don't like your boob area." I gave her a slight nod and she freaks out and pinches my arm.

"Awwww! What was that about," I asked her while rubbing the part of my arm that she pinched.

"You seriously don't know? Gosh Sophie (seems to me that she already has a pet name for me), do you know how many girls in this school would die just to have that," she then pointed to my chest area and I had to slap her hand away seeing that a lot of people are on their way to lunch as well.

I really didn't know how to react to her so I just shrugged my shoulders then pushed the cafeteria door open. "Never mind. Let's just get our lunch and hopefully find a table that we can occupy," I answered trying to steer the conversation away from my chest area.

After getting our lunch, we made our way through the cafeteria and passed by the different social groups. Th jocks, the nerds, the emos, the musicians, they all have their own tables.

Did I forget to mention that the middle school and the high school students share the same cafeteria? We sure do so you see, finding an empty table is next to impossible sometimes.

I heard Gabby call my name and I smiled when I saw that she found a table for us.

"Hey Sophie. We can sit here," she waved her now tray-empty hands motioning for me to sit down on the said table.

I went to the table and saw a few familiar faces. If I am not mistaken, all of them are from the same year as Gabby and me and some of them are our classmates in one or two subjects.

"Hi! Thank you for letting us sit here," I told everyone at the table while I all gave them a smile that I knew looked awkward based on the way my jaws quivered.

A boy right across me suddenly spoke and my mouth dropped. My jaws literally went to the floor after hearing what he said.

"I don't remember anyone inviting you. We told Gabby she can sit. She didn't mention she was with someone else," the boy was looking at me with his eyebrows raised and poker face.

After five seconds, I was able to pull up my jaws from the floor and glared at the jerk, "Well I'm sorry, jerk. I didn't know you owned this table."

"My name's Drew and no, I don't own the table but I was here first," he snapped back at me before looking at me with a bored face.

She took a deep breath and just started focusing on her food. "Whatever Shrew," I can't help but tease him.

That was when I remembered that there were other people at the table. Everyone started laughing and calling out Drew.

"So finally, Drew met his match," a tall and beautiful girl spoke on my right. "By the way I'm Cassie. We have Algebra together, " she gave me a friendly smile. She then introduced me to everyone around the table.

"Sophia," I looked up and saw everyone smiling at me. "Hello," I smiled back at everyone before finally resting my eyes on Drew and giving him a glare.
