The Next Day.

After making it home early this morning, I could barely sleep. My mind was filled with Jack. His laughter, smile, his smell, and even his touch. I was in shambles. We exchanged numbers before he left my house, even though it was hard to leave each other for some reason. He didn't want to leave, but I didn't want him to leave either. We got a taste of each other, and we were craving so much more.

Jack was going to be home for a while, he wanted to spend time with his family with the holidays approaching. Jack said L.A. was home some days but Louisville was where his heart resided. I didn't agree with him, mainly because I had been so sheltered by my parents that I was eager to explore the world in any way possible.

I rolled around in my bed for the longest, hearing my sisters and brothers downstairs associating with my parents. They arrived early for Thanksgiving in a few days. I was dreading this for the past few weeks. It was always a tense time in this house for me. I had three brothers, two older and one younger, then I had two older sisters. My oldest brother, Carter recently got married to his high school sweetheart. He was a lawyer in New York, and he thought he had become too good for Louisville. My second oldest brother, Adam lived in California working for some technology company that was linked to Apple. Adam, well, he just was glad to be away from Kentucky in all.

My two older sisters, Harper and Audrey were twins. Fraternal twins but still absolutely stunning. We all had good genes, I won't deny that. But, Harper and Audrey always thought they were too good for any and anyone who didn't have anything to offer them. Harper worked for a modeling agency in California, three hours from Adam. Audrey worked in Texas as a fashion designer. Aside from myself and my younger brother Thomas, my parents had pretty successful kids.

I pulled myself out of bed and headed for the shower so I could start the day of family gatherings.

I dressed in skinny jeans and a comfy white sweater with black stripes. I paired the outfit with tan booties and a tan leather jacket. It was fairly cold, but it was a light jacket. Simple make-up of eyeliner and mascara, with a soft nude lipstick to finish the lookup. I added some perfume before putting on my pearl studs in my ears. I pulled my hair into a high ponytail before grabbing my phone and heading downstairs.

I was greeted by my mother first who could tell I had been out all night, but she forced a smile and ushered me into what we call the "Tea Room". Adam was the first to greet me, he hugged me tightly which I returned. Carter and his wife, Elisa greeted me with smiles and hellos. My sisters Audrey and Harper gave me a fake smile each as I sat down.

"Up before noon, huh Y/N?" Harper spoke, sipping her tea.

"Why of course. I couldn't miss family time, it's my favorite time of the year." I forced a smile before crossing my legs, leaning back in my seat.

Harper's lip twitched with anger but she held back whatever snarky remark she planned on saying.

My mother cleared her throat as she reached for the honey, my father helping her. My parents had a love that I craved. It was sensible. They were high school sweethearts, raised with the same values they passed on to us. I loved my parents, but sometimes their values sucked.

Carter was about to speak when our butler, Niles entered the Tea Room with a large bouquet of red roses and yellow sunflowers.
