Soft hands caressed Roman's face. Long, slender fingers tracing the curve of his jawline, slowly and carefully, as if trying to memorize every bit of his tanned, stubble-less face.

Closing his eyes he leaned into it, soaking in every moment of contact between them.

He felt a hand make its way under his chin, urging his face up, while the other made its way to his waist, holding him tight to their chest.

Looking up to their eyes, he melted even more.

Their dark brown eyes shone like honey in the light surrounding them, urging him to get lost in their depths.

As they brought their face down, Roman felt himself on his toes to meet them-

Roman was jolted from his reverie by the sound of a crash resounding outside his door.

Scowling to himself he made his way to the door, cracking it open slightly.

He blinked in the sudden brightness from the hallway, but managed to make out his younger brother, Prince Remus, holding what looked to be two pan lids, one in each hand, and a shit eating grin on his face.

Roman growled, opening the door wider and running a hand over his eyes, rubbing them awake.

"What, in the name of the Sylkies, are you doing?" Besides asking, Roman knew exactly what was going on. Remus was here to annoy him, as per usual.

"Why, dear brother of mine, I was sent here, by Father, to wake you up, he wants to see you, in his study, pronto!" Remus replied, the grin growing even larger on his face.

Slightly shocked, Roman looked into his face. "What?"

"You must've fucked something up, otherwise I don't understand why he wants to see your ugly face,"

Roman groaned, letting go of the door to rub both palms into his already aching temples.

"First off, between us I've got the better genetics, so unlike you I don't look like a walking pile of thestral shit. Second off, why would he send you, of all people?"

"Because," Remus said, his face almost split in two. "I'm his favorite!" With that, Remus made his way down the hall, merrily crashing the lids together at random intervals.

Scowling again, Roman closed the door. He made a mental note to bring up this incident with Logan later before running his fingers through his hair to edge his nerves.

Father wanted to see him.

That was the point of the visit. Father was summoning him. Him. It must've been important, dad hadn't really talked to him ever since Roman had told him he had no intention of marriage.

It has been a stupid argument, but apparently dad was very avid about the idea of a royal wedding.

He had said something about how it was a show of how committed to ruling you are, but all it seemed to mean was how sure his Father was that Roman was not yet ready to succeed him.

It was probably true though.

Remus was right in saying he was their Father's favorite. Father was always straightforward with Roman, never stopping to be a dad, he was lucky to have Patton otherwise he probably would've never made it this far.

Cutting that thought off, he shook his head to clear it.

Father just wanted to talk. That wasn't a lot. And now that his mind started to wake, he realized that it might not be strange.

His 22nd year was approaching and he was still unmarried. He was close to being the oldest unwed heir since the founding of this Kingdom. It wouldn't be out of character for his father to try unconvincing him of his choice.
