Bethly at the top again✨

Images of me and Grayson kissing last night shot through my poor mind. Fudge what am I supposed to do? I'm in a towel for bloody sakes! Just play it cool Bethly, you've so got this.

"Yes?" I squeaked poking my head through the bathroom door. Okay maybe you don't. You're a disappointment Bethly, pull it together okay or he'll have that smug look on his face forever.

His eyes widened as he took in my damp hair that was actually creating a puddle on the floor. Clearing my throat rudely I regained his attention.

"Uh...never mind. Dinner will be ready in an hour." I couldn't stop my eyes from lowering to watch his perfect round aśś strut out of my room. I had to pretend to hate him for my own safety but it was okay for me admire him, right? Oh well couldn't stop myself if I tried.

The one thing I hated was these stupid dinners. You always have to look decent, there was no such thing as wearing sweats to dinner. The funny thing was you could have as many fights at dinner as you wanted. Well as long as you looked decent that is. Groaning I dropped my towel and began getting ready.
-----------------------
Studying myself I wondered if my mate would like me. I was nothing extraordinary, just plain normal. Boring. At least I wasn't butt ugly though. My black skinny jeans fit like a second skin. The loose white t-shirt felt like clouds on my skin. The greyish wool coverup that went just below my bum made it more comfortable. My curls were still drying so I didn't bother with them, I decided against make up considering I hadn't slept in 24 hours I was pretty tired and after this I would like to crash. Internally groaning at my stupid glasses that no one even knew I had I scuffed along the floor in my slipper shoes while fiddling with my key necklace that I've had as long as I could remember.

"Sweetie?" My mothers angelic voice caused me to jump. I looked at her straight brown hair, the same as Juls. Although she had pretty green eyes and Juls had my fathers brown ones. No one knew where I got my strange eyes or my black hair considering my dad was a redhead and my bother had light brown. The only thing I had in common with them was I was short like mum.

Even in personalities we were different. I was extremely quiet but had a horrific temper, they were confident in themselves and very controlled.

"Are you-?" She stopped mid-sentence changing her mind. "Come on, dinners ready." she said putting her petite hands on my back and gently pushing me into the main dining room. I took in the faces, mum, dad, Juls, Jessie, Cole, Grayson and Grayson's beta who I still didn't know.

Quietly sitting in my spot next to the head of the table were my father was proudly sitting, across from Juls and next to Cole. Deciding to actually be useful today I listened to the conversation.

My dad's brows raised in confused. "Your beta Bruno is a very well trained man and wolf Ms. Lock, suggesting a new beta is complete nonsense." My father addressed Jessie who was so close to Grayson she was practically sitting on him.

"Please alpha James call me Jessie. I'm just trying to make sure my mate and I have the best pack." She informed us in a voice that I'm sure was supposed to be comforting but was anything but.

"Pops, may I?" I asked waiting for him to nod his head, when he did I swear there was proud in those brown eyes of his.

"Jessie your pack is the fifth? No- fourth strongest pack in the world, ours is the first. Do not suggest taking one of our men who simply outrank your pack. Actually, we don't even know if it's your yet, it's alpha Grayson's. So if he needs warriors we will gladly help train HIS pack. Please Ms. Lock, you haven't earned the right to take care of business, so in all due respect, don't get involved." I told her in a soft but forceful voice. It was strictly business, it had nothing to do with my personal feelings because if it did I would of simply told her to go to hėll.

Daring a glance at Grayson I seen an approving look in those deep blue eyes of his and even a smile on his lips again, oh god those lips- "thank you Bee. Couldn't of said it better myself." my father shook me from my horrifying thoughts. Sending him a smile I picked at my lasagna.

This was all dinner ever was, politics. But I just don't understand why she needs a new beta.

Cutting off whoever was currently talking I asked. "So Jessie, what is the reason for a new beta? Bruno here is no offence, way out of your packs league." I stated while smiling at Bruno who even smiled back, he was polite. Better than the rest of alpha Grayson's pack at least.

Watching intently I noticed her squirming under my gaze while Grayson sat there not offering any explanation. It's his damn pack, time for him to speak for it.

"Alpha Grayson, why do you need a new beta? Or do you not know because it seems as if Ms.lock here is the one who appears to new running your pack." I cringe at the note of jealousy in my voice.

"I assure you Ms. Black. You have nothing no reason to worry that pretty little head of yours. I know everything going on in my pack. My pack is actually third strongest and climbing up to second actually so Bruno here is perfect. As for Ms. Lock here she is just climbing for power as usual. Thanks for the concern." He answered quickly and smoothly. Shît I just got slayed.

"Actually tomorrow the third ranking pack is coming to town. I didn't want to have them here considering were not on the best terms. Bee, I'd live for you to go with alpha Grayson to represent our new alliance. It's at a formal place tomorrow. 2:00 sharp. I'd like for you to bring a sword Bethly, we'll discuss the details tomorrow but for now dinner dismissed. I'll see you in my office at 1:00." He declared standing leaving no room for objections. Mother of sweet baby jėsus help me.
