Chapter 2

Bethly at the top^

Peeling my eyes open I heard Cole snoring loudly. Slipping out of bed I grabbed a white cotton robe and slipped into the bathroom. Stripping out of my nightgown I brushed my teeth before stepping under the steaming hot water.

why alpha Grayson so mad at me last night? What had I done to him? I had thought it was lust for one ridiculous moment before I realized it wasn't possible because of his mate. Unless she isn't his mate? Dismissing the thought I decided to stay clear of him today until he leaves.

Emerging from the bathroom I seen Cole laying in my bed in his boxers. I Roll my eyes at him as he glares at me. He never was a morning ever since I've known him since I was two and he was four he hasn't been, he actually used to throw blocks at me in the mornings.

"Your dad wants you to meet him in the board room. All alphas and Luna's are attending."

"Why not Juls?" I asked all he did was shrug and lay back down ignoring my presence.

Oh crap, I have to see alpha Grayson and his luna. Growling I went into my walk in closet and grabbed some clothes and a hair elastic before going back to my bathroom. Juls always found a way out of these meetings, forcing me to go. Which was very pointless because it isn't much longer until she became alpha.

Slipping on my black combat boots I looked in the full length mirror behind the bathroom door. My purple/burgundy skinny jeans hugged my skin like a second skin and my white tank top that had a layer of lace over normal material was loose, it had thick straps and showed a little bit of my flat stomach. My curly hair was in a French braid with a few curls that had escaped. Deciding against makeup I emerged from the bathroom.

Pulling the curtains up in the room I yelled good morning to a cussing Cole before leaving and making my way to the board room.

'All alphas have to have a meeting then eat breakfast. Would you so happen to be in the small dining room in about a half hour?' I asked scarlet through mind-link

'Of course' she replied instantly

Noticing I was standing outside the room I stood still taking a few breathes before pushing the door open. I seen 4 Luna's smiling at me standing next to their mates. Alpha Grayson was standing alone. Where was his mate?

The meeting was a haze to me, I barely payed attention. I always found it hard to focus at these things. Feeling a hand on my should I looked up to see Luna bane smiling at me before she left the room closing the door behind her. Looking around I seen it was just my dad, alpha Grayson and me.

"You'll stay with Alpha Grayson here and discuss the terms of him staying for a month?" My father directed towards me.

"Hm?" I questioned confused. There was no way he could stay. I couldn't handle it.

Rolling his eyes at me he scolded me "you need to start paying attention! This is getting old. You aren't dumb, pay attention bethly. You're a good daughter. Please. Mr. Lancaster is going to be staying here for some time. So will 30 members of his pack. You will discuss the terms and rules with him, his room is across the hall from yours I expect you to show it to him."

Feeling something snap inside me I did something I've never done to my father before. I spoke back. "This isn't my goddamn Job, it's Juls. I don't even have a mate yet! Your little favourite daughter has been skipping all her duties and you've been dropping them on me. YOU start paying attention" taking a seat across from Grayson at the table I heard the the door slam close behind me.

"Spicy little thing" Grayson mused.

Tucking a curl behind my hair I dared myself to ask what I've been wanting to know all morning. "Where's your little mate?" I asked quite rudely but he didn't seemed to notice or even mind.

A confused and hurt look crossed his face before he responded bluntly "dead"

"So who was that last night?" I asked Feeling awful for asking already. All he did was snort and tell me it was none of my business. Glaring I told him as quickly as possible about all the rooms, rules and conditions in about five minutes before standing and walking out like my ass was on fire.

Pulling out my iPhone 5s I texted scarlet to meet on the porch

Sliding the glass door open and sliding it shut I sat down next to her on the swing. I could feel some of the alphas and Luna's staring at me from the kitchen. The whole kitchen wall was glass so they could see us perfectly fine. Wherever I went it felt like I had two heads because they all stared.

"Sorry I was late." I apologized. She nodded then pulled out a cigarette telling me it was fine before smiling at me and taking a puff of the cigarette.

Turning my head I studied her. Her chalky purple hair that went to her mid back was drying in its natural waves. Her light grey eyes looked tired. She was 5'9 and had her long legs stretched out. She was wearing a black long sleeve with light blue jean shorts. She had a bruise on her thigh which I knew was from her abusive father.

She made me promise her when we were seven not to tell anyone because she said she would get him to stop. She said when we were 18 if he hadn't stopped I could tell. In three weeks that's the first thing I'm going to do. . Know I'm horrible but I was seven when I made the stupid promise and I couldn't break it. Everyday she reminds me of the promise. I can't break her trust.

"Bee" she spoke slowly using my nickname. "Who the hell is the hot man who keeps looking out here. No correction at you, like he wants to jump your bones?" Scarlet had always been blunt and always will be, sadly.

Turning my head I looked straight into alpha Grayson's emotionless eyes. "That's alpha Grayson, that badass alpha, ya know? Well anyways I disrespected him last night by um-uh never mind but I think he's just pissed."

Shaking her head she smiled like she knew something I didn't.

We sat right there all night talking. I couldn't believe Luke had found his mate last night and I'd missed it. Tomorrow its our pack and Grayson's pack. The betas, third in commands, me, Juls, Cole and some girl name Jessie from his pack. I'm assuming she's the one that was alpha Grayson's date last night. This should be fudging fun.
