Despite what everyone wanted to believe, they took the best precautions they could and put both Pidge and Lance in confinement.

This couldn't be true. This couldn't be true, Lance kept telling himself over and over again. It was impossible, yet the very thought scared him to death. He needed to talk to someone. He needed to talk to Pidge. Of all people, surely she could prove that this was all a mistake.

"Give us a second, huh?" Lance asked the guard outside Pidge's room. He nodded and closed the door behind him.

"Lance," Pidge said, surprised to see him. "This has to be a mistake."

"Tell me about it," Lance mumbled.

"I need to talk to Krolia about being retested. I mean, there must be-

"Us," Lance interrupted.

"What?"

"Us retested. Apparently, I'm one of those...Zarc things, too. I'm across the hall."

"That can't be," Pidge said.

"I know," Lance agreed.

"Although, I suppose Zethrid and Ezor could've done anything to us when we were their captives. Maybe we just didn't notice."

"Apparently."

"Lance..." Pidge began, letting her words drift off as she locked gazes with him. "Are you worried that it's at least possible?"

Lance looked at her for a long time, sharing the look of fear spread across her face. "A little," he admitted in a voice, unlike his usually confident tone. The two looked at each other for a moment longer, trying to process what all of this meant.

"There's no way Pidge and Lance can be Zatarcs," Hunk said. All of the others were gathered around a table, trying to decide what to do next.

"We can't prove they aren't," Keith said, much to their despair.

"We must continue to keep them isolated in order to prevent them from being exposed to their programming triggers," Kolivan said.

"We don't know what they've been programed to do. We're talking about keeping them confided indefinitely," Shiro remarked, not liking the idea one bit.

"At least until we can come up with another course of action," Krolia said, wishing there was an easy way out of this mess.

"They're two Paladins of Voltron. We need them," Allura insisted.

"The good news is that no more of you are Zatarcs," Krolia said. "We have also tested all Blade of Marmora members who have reported in. They're all clear."

"I want some good news about Pidge and Lance," Shiro said, standing up from his seat.

"We'll keep working on it," Krolia promised as Shiro walked away. How could he have let these two kids get into so much trouble?
