"You are also not a Zatarc," Krolia told Pidge.

"Thank you," Pidge said as she let out a big gasp of relief. This could've ended so much worse than this, she realized. But that didn't mean it wasn't still a mess.

Pidge didn't know what to do. She liked Lance. She liked Lance A LOT. But she didn't know how to tell him. Sure, maybe for a moment he had felt a little something for her, but that had passed. He liked Allura, not her.

Before anyone could say anything, Pidge slipped out of the room. She wasn't a Zatarc, that, at least, was good news. But did this mean she had ruined her and Lance's friendship? She sure would miss it if there wasn't someone to make her laugh and smile anymore.

Pidge eventually found a balcony to slip out onto. She stared at the distant grassy hills, and at the beautiful sunset beyond.

"It's not a sunset Pidge," she remembered Lance telling her once. At least a billion happened every day, but something about this one was different. It was calming, relaxing, soothing even.

"I thought you didn't like sunsets," she heard Lance say from behind.

Pidge almost fell over the balcony rail. "Lance! I, um, what are you doing here?" It wasn't that he was the last person she wanted to see, but he was the last person she wanted to see right now.

Lance placed a hand behind his head. "Well, uh, I think you know."

Great, just what Pidge had been dreaded. "Lance, none of this has to leave the room. We can just...forget about it, alright?"

Pidge couldn't stand feeling so uncomfortable. She dashed back to the door and was about to head back inside when Lance reached out and tenderly grabbed her hand.

"Pidge, maybe...I don't want to forget about it."

When Pidge saw Lance blush, she turned back around and looked at him. "What do you mean?

Lance looked at her with those sea-blue eyes of his. "What I said back there. I meant every word."

Pidge was starting to blush. "Yeah, I know, the machine, it..."

"What I mean to say is...I like you." Lance smiled at her.

Pidge didn't know what to think. "But, but, you like Allura," she stammered. Surely this couldn't be real.

"No, see, that's the thing. I thought I liked Allura, but I didn't. It was almost like, I was telling myself I was in love with her when really, the one I wanted to be with was right in front of my eyes the entire time. It's you, Pidge. I love you. You're the one I want." It took a lot of guts for Lance to say it, and he was almost sure Pidge wouldn't share his feelings, but he had to say it. He had to let it out.

Pidge stared at him for several seconds, trying to process everything he had just said. This couldn't be real. It was like a dream. But one look at the soft expression on his face and she knew it was real.

"Lance."

"Yeah?" he said back a little nervously.

"You're the one I want too." Pidge smiled up at him. "I love you too, I mean. Maybe I should've said that first to be more clear..."

Lance let out a light chuckle as he intertwined both of his hands with Pidge's. They were so warm and soft. "I don't know what to say," he let out breathlessly.

"Then say nothing." Before Lance knew it, Pidge wrapped both of her arms around Lance and looked at the sunset.

"I thought you didn't like sunsets," he murmured, laying his head on her soft rusty brown hair.

Pidge smiled. "I never said that I didn't. I just said a billion happen every day. But maybe, that isn't a bad thing. Maybe trying new things isn't a bad thing."

"I agree."

The two took a seat on the balcony floor, and cuddled up together, watching the sunset. It was beautiful, and full of hope, just like their future together.
