"If you're ready, we will begin," Krolia told Lance. He was nervous alright, but he nodded his head in approval.

Then, suddenly, Allura came out of nowhere and started banging on the glass. "Stop!" she cried out. Everyone looked up at her, waiting for an explanation.

Allura and Matt led Pidge into the room, keeping a steady grip on her arm so she wouldn't fall over. The anesthesia was still in her system.

"Pidge? What's up?" Lance said, trying to stay calm. The thought of not seeing her again was unsettling.

Pidge looked around. "Can we have a moment alone please?" she asked everyone. They nodded their heads and exited the room. "Thanks," she murmured.

"Hey, Pidge, can you undo this?" Lance whispered, motioning to the headband tied around his head.

"Yeah." Pidge pulled it off, noticing how messy his hair was now. It still looked good that way though. Pidge looked Lance right in the eyes with a look so serious he didn't know what to think.

"What's going on?" Lance asked her.

Pidge leaned a little closer to him. "We're not Zatarcs," she whispered.

Lance looked across the room. "How do you know?"

"The machine thinks that we have false memories, but we don't. We were lying."

"I wasn't lying," Lance insisted.

"Okay, you left something out," Pidge said instead.

"No I didn't." Lance had been over it a hundred times in his head and couldn't think of a single thing he had left out.

"Lance..." Pidge began, unsure how to phrase this. "When you wouldn't let Ezor hurt me..." she sent him a look. "Are you sure there wasn't something else you're not admitting?"

Lance shot her a confused look. "W-what are you talking about?"

Pidge flashed her eyes back and forth. "Something neither one of us wants to admit so we won't ruin our friendship."

"Oh," Lance said. He looked back and forth. "Oh, that." He looked at Pidge then quickly turned away.

"Lance, we weren't telling the whole truth, and that's why the machine thinks the memories are false."

Lance was still processing the part where it meant their feelings for each other. Did this mean...Pidge liked him too? "Really?" he asked her.

Pidge shrugged and moved her eyes across the room. Lance returned the gesture. She turned back around, and said to the others, "Retest him."
