A ten year old girl was laying on a bed, reading a folklore book as she waited for her parents to come back. The smell of iodoform invaded her nostrils. However, it isn't something she's not used too. The smell was all too familiar together with her surroundings.

Suddenly, a tall and slim figure walked through the door with a stethoscope around his neck while holding a clipboard. Her parents, a few steps behind him. Her mom's eyes were displaying sorrow but her father's was blank. There was always a barrier around her father that she couldn't break through.

Her mother runs to her side and held her tiny hands in her larger ones. Her mother was trying her best to keep calm but her eyes betrayed her. It was obvious that she cried a lot before coming to visit her daughter.

Her tiny heart was pounding and her eyes glistened with hope even though the answer was obvious. The doctor gave her a small sad smile then she lets go a sigh to prepare herself to explain to the little girl about her conditions.

"Hello Soyeon, how are you feeling today?" The doctor says in a sweet voice.

"I feel-" Just as the ten year old was about to answer, her Father cut her off.

"Just tell her that she's gonna die and leave." Her Father muttered rather loudly for everyone to hear.

The doctor clears her throat and placed her attention back on the little girl. Seems like she didn't hear what her Father said.

"You have a weak heart but it's not your fault of course! It's manageable if you eat the medicine correctly, okay! You're the strongest girl I have ever seen. I know you can get through this, okay. Im sure of it!"  the doctor says trying to boost the ten year old's confidence.

a few months later...

The girl found it difficult to breathe. She felt her lungs burning as if it was set on fire. She coughed and coughed as she started tearing up. Her heart rate was abnormal too. It was evident that her condition was getting worse. It's also been a few weeks since she visited her doctor and she missed 3 appointments.

"Soyeon, pack all your clothes now." the stern, monotone voice of an all so 'loving' Father.

The girl tilts her head with her hand still over her chest. "Where are we going?" she asked.

Her Father didn't even give her a single glance. He just said it and left, slamming the door behind him. The little girl still doesn't know how to comprehend her situation. An incompetent father and a worried mother didn't help her understand what she was going through.

As she packed her clothes, the voices outside her room could be heard. She ran up to the door placing both hands flat and pressing her right ear on the door.

"What are you doing? You can't just send her away like that." her mother voice spoke out.

It was silent until a sound of a phone ringing was heard. A familiar manly voice picking it up.

"Yea, you can pick her up at 6. Make sure you make her unrecognisable. But keep her alive for the sake of my wife." Her father's not so hush voice said.

"Change her name, her hair. Heck, even plastic surgery if you have to. Make her look nothing like Soyeon. Keep her hidden from the media until the deal is done. I don't want her back until she is fixed." the call ended.

"She's our daughter. Im not letting her go. You didn't even inform me about this. Don't be so rash with your decisions. You know what? If she's leaving, Im following her."

"Don't be stupid. You sure, you want to leave your acting career just for a sick girl? She's gonna die anyway. Don't waste your emotions on-"

a loud smack thundered through the house. "Don't insult her like that. Im leaving." Her mother's voice was harsher than usual.

"If you leave me, i will kill her." her father said deadpanned.

"Don't forget, im a well-known lawyer. I have connections. Do not test me." He added.

light footsteps could be heard making their way to the little girl's room. She quickly ran back to her closet, taking out her clothes to pack up.

The room door opened revealing a tiny boy, a few years older than her. He silently closed the door behind him.

"hey Soyeon-ie, I love you, you know that right?" her brother, Sunghoon whispered gently.

"what's happening? Where am I going?" the little girl tried to speak up but her voice was barely a whisper.

Her brother gave her a comforting hug. A hug she never knew she actually needed. She started crying.

Which didn't end well for her. Her cries were too loud that it could be heard from outside. Her father bursted into the room which caused Sunghoon to push his sister which landed her face first on the cold white tiled floor.

"Sunghoon, what are you doing here with this brat?" Her father's voice laced with pure anger

"I- I just- I erm- I just wanted to show her how much I hate her. And- and- how happy I am that she is... leaving." Sunghoon struggled to finish his sentence but finished it anyway.

"Go back to your room. Let her finish packing."

Kayden ran out the room, leaving the girl to face the wrath of her father.

Her hair was yanked "I didn't expect to get such a pathetic girl as my daughter. To say the least, I'm ashamed." He lets go of her hair and strutted out.

Before closing the door he said his last few words to her "Hurry up and pack, your face is giving me a migraine."

Everything seems to be going on so fast and in a blur, in her eyes. However, she still did what she was told as she was never disobedient when it comes to her parents. She already felt like a burden and didn't want to hurt her family's reputation anymore.
