I woke up alarmed, I could hear mum crying.

"Mum?"

"Your awake... Oh darling..." Mum sobbed.

"Mum what's wrong?" I asked seeing her fragile body shaking.

"James... He got into a... car accident."

"What!" My eyes flooded with tears, it can't be happening again. I can't lose somebody else. "Is-- is he okay?"

"I don't know... They won't tell me anything." Mum sobbed as she hugged me to her body.

"He's going to be okay Mum..." I said hugging her to me tightly.

"Oh darling, I can't lose him aswell."

"I know Mum, I know." I said trying to hold in my emotions that were trying to escape. "You need to calm down Mum or they won't tell us anything okay?"

Suddenly theres a knock on the door and a doctor steps in, Mum pulls away and wipes hers tears.

"Okay so I have good news and bad news."

Mum and I nodded, wanting to know what was happening.

"Skylar you can leave as soon as your ready, that's that good news."

"And the bad news?" Mum asked.

"Your son is in a coma. I'm sorry."

"When can you wake him up?" I asked.

The doctor turned to me, "You see Skylar, comas done so that the body can rest the brain and just like if you faint its because the body is shutting off to help the body recover. We can't see the damage to James's brain yet and when if he wakes up we won't no what kind of condition he'll be in."

"I---"

"You need to relax Skylar." The doctor said sternly, making me nod.

"I'll be back soon." The doctor left and Mum bursted into tears agan, she fell to the floor as she cried.

"My baby boy..." She cried out. I got out of the bed and sat on the floor with her, rocking her body.

"It's okay..." I whispered. "He'll be okay Mum."

But somewhere deep inside of me, I felt resonsible for his car accident. He left angry becuase I wanted Noah here, and now... now he's in a coma he may never come out of...

He would have been angry, I didn't my brother dying angry at me. I couldn't let somebody die again because of me...

When the doctor came back in Mum was fast asleep in the chair. "Hi Skylar."

"Hi doc, I was wondering if I could see James?"

"Of course you can, but you have to go in a wheelchair okay?"

I nodded, the doctor grabbed a wheelchiar and took me to see James.

When she wheeled me next to him, It was hard to believe that this was my brother. I couldn't recongise him, he was so brusied he could have been anyone but I knew it was my big brother James.

Once the doctor left I took his hand and began speaking to him, "Hi James," I felt so stupid but the doctors said it might help so I continued, "Its me, Skylar. I hope your okay in there, and I hope that your fighting to come back because--" Tears rolled down my cheeks. "I-- I don't think Mum can cope with this, I'm scared she'll get ill. I try being strong like dad would want me to be but-- I don't think I can anymore."
