Chapter 19

Noah's P.O.V

"It's Skylar, she's waking up."

She was waking up? Would she be the same girl that I was in love with? Would she even remember who I was?

"Do--do they know if she'll be brain damaged yet?" I asked panic setting in.

"They don't know, they will need to run tests before they can find out. But this is good Noah she's waking up." Skylars Mum said squeezing my shoulder.

I couldn't believe that she was finally waking up, after days of waiting she was finally waking up. My mind started racing, would she even want to see me? The last time she saw me she ran away from me, would she want me here with her?

"When will she wake up?" I found myself asking her Mum.

"The doctors said she should wake up within the next hour. She'll be okay Noah."

I want to ask her how she was so sure she would be okay but I held my tongue and nodded slowly. The last thing I wanted was to be told to leave and then not able to see Skylar and her not to know that I had been here everyday since the fire. I needed her know how much I loved her even if she didn't love me back just by her knowing what she meant to me would be enough.

About half an hour ago Skylars Mum and brother James was allowed to go into the room to try and see if by talking to Skylar would wake her.

I stared through the glass and watched Skylar not moving, Skylars Mum was holding her hand and looked like she was talking to her. As James sat by the window watching Skylar with anxious eyes, did I look like that? I ran a tired hand through my hair that was probably messy again.

I looked at Skylar and I swear I saw her hand move slightly. Was I dreaming? Did I imagine it?

And then her hand moved again, then her eyes fluttered open. My heart stopped as I saw her beautiful eyes, all I wanted to do was run into the room and wrap her in my arms.

James, Skylar's brother was now standing. He had tears rushing down his face as he stared at Skylar.

Skylar's Mum kissed her daughters cheek, and then spoke to her Skylar look my way.

I smiled at her, and waved a lightly. Skylars eyes stayed on me as she spoke to her Mum. James looked at me then at his Mum before walking towards the door where I was, he opened the door and stared at me blankly.

"She wants to see you."

"She does?"

"Well you did save her life." And for the first time ever, James smiled at me. "but you hurt her, I'll hurt you." James nodded towards the room where Skylar and her Mum was and I slowly moved my heavy feet towards the door, I opened the door and saw Skylar's Mum kissing her daughter on the forehead and then smile at me as she passed me at the doorway.

I stood at the doorway as Skylar stared at me.

"I don't bite you know?" Skylar said smiling at me, I smiled too and sat next to her.

"How are you feeling?" I asked staring at her bruised but beautiful face.

"I could be better but I guess without you I wouldn't even be here. Thank you Noah."

"For what?" I asked taking her hand.

"Saving me. Finding out who locked me in a burning building. You saved me." Tears were in her eyes and all I wanted to do is wipe them away and tell her nothing was going to hurt her again.

"I just wished I got there sooner." I said looking at our hands.

"That doesn't matter now Noah."

"You could have had brain damage..." I whispered as I looked up at her with tears in my eyes. "You still could have died."

"But I didn't." She whispered softly. She cleared her throat. "So I hear you was here everyday..." Skylar said smiling at me, changing the subject.

I nodded, "I was bored." I chuckled.

"If only if I could slap you Noah Harris." Skylar laughed.

"That's not very nice Miss Adams." I said smiling like an idiot.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot I can't slap animals, that would be animal abuse." We both laughed.

"Touché."
