Italics mean thoughts/narration and can sometimes mark a key word in the story!
What he said to you was terrible in words, but he surely didn't mean it like that. Though the way he spoke harshly even through the modulator of his helmet, you knew he wasn't in the best of his moods at the time and you didn't make it any better.
You let in a gasp of welcomed fresh air as you continued to trudge through the brush in the forested planet, your feet stepping in a light pattern as you were attempting to be quiet and to remove your prints in case anything had been lurking in your wake. Unfortunately for you, this was a bad time to be wandering around in the woods at night. Of course, you weren't the most worried about that... Only the fact that you wanted to put a few planet's lengths between you and the Mandalorian that you had been tagging along with for almost the length of Two-years. Din's words had put a large impact on you and your feelings. You know he didn't mean it as bad as it was- It was just the way he said it.
Now, a few hours into your journey... It had started to seem like the forest was starting to look and sound alive. It was very unsettling to see in the dark of the night, only brandishing your trusty blaster and a lamp. Another thing... Your breathing had started to become more shallow as you continued, pushing plant life out of your way while needing to catch your breath.
After a few moments of attempting to keep moving, your legs finally gave out and you collapse onto your behind with your legs tucked beneath you. "Kriff.." You cursed, Gulping as you took in a few breaths. "Dank farrik- Did we have to land on this bantha fodder of a planet!" Silently cursing yourself for it, you had decided to rest here under a tree before setting up a small camp with what was in the pack on your side.
Somewhat proud of your work at setting up a small camp, you gave yourself a metaphorical pat on your back as you plopped down next to the campfire you'd started a few minutes before. You let out a sigh as you looked into the fire, becoming mesmerized in its flaming beauty. Now it was getting harder to ignore the nagging voice in the back of your head telling you... No screaming at you that your choice was kind of made on a bad whim. What you said to him sounded equally as horrible, you're even wondering if it hurt his feelings as much as it did yours. But no, Mandalorians surely don't have any of those feelings... Or does he? You didn't know for sure, however, there would be some soft moments between you. Be it a brush of the hand or a hug after being away on a long hunt. You couldn't tell for sure, but signs hinted he felt. Though- After Din had returned from Moff Gideons Cruiser, He was somewhat changed... And of course, you had noticed that The Child was not with him, Instead the Dark Saber. You had almost sobbed right in front of him at the news that Grogu had been returned to his kind. You couldn't imagine a lot of what Din was going through, But you knew deep down he was hurting pretty badly. You were as well, but neither of you would ever want to show it.
You hadn't noticed that you were crying... Or that you'd fallen asleep by the fire, only now noticing that the planet's sun had risen into the sky just above its horizon as you wiped your tears away. You then got up, giving a stretch to your limbs and joints before you began picking up your camp. Thoughts of Din were still fresh on your mind and bleeding like wounds. You could also say that you were somewhat of a bleeding heart, but never did you let that cloud your mind when things were getting tough... Not until he insulted your integrity and you all with one word.
