Jamie's POV
Dakota sits in front of me as Ana, looking up at me with her big, beautiful eyes, waiting.
I sigh heavily. "Do you have an actual question, Miss Steele?" I make sure to sound exasperated. I lean casually on my desk, my hands clamping around the edges as I stare back.
"Um, yeah, sorry," Dakota looks down at the paper on her lap before looking up again, "Are you gay?" Quickly, her expression changes into one of confusion and her gaze returns to her lap. She lets out a nervous laugh before looking back at me whilst shaking her head. "It's written here, I'm just-"
Very well done, Dakota. I smirk, almost laugh and reply, "No, Anastasia, I'm not gay."
"I apologize, Mr. Grey, Kate can be a little-"
I cut her off. "Intrusive?"
Dakota then raises her pencil to her lips and says, "Curious."
God, that was cute. It takes everything in me not to say it out loud or show it in my face. Luckily for me, Sam yells cut and not one second later, we're both sorrounded by hair and makeup people.
Sam approaches us. "That was perfect. Both of you were great. Now, I just need one more shot of you, Dakota. Jamie will come and sit next to you but this time, the camera will focus on you. I need you to keep the pencil near your face but follow Jamie, with a sort of awe, do you know what I mean?"
"Yes, of course. I got it!" Dakota says.
"Good! Jamie," she turns to me, "Just walk and sit. That's it." She laughs and I join in.
"Not a problem."
"Let's finish strong and we'll be done with our first scene!" Cheers and small applauds errupt all around and soon it's just Dakota and me once again.
"Action!"
On cue, I push myself off the desk and walk by Dakota and then take my place next to her. I follow her gaze the whole time, curious as to how she was going to play this out.
Her penetrating blue eyes stay glued to me but her mouth remains slightly open with the end of the pencil near her lips. Her acting is so believable, I almost wish she actually looked at me that way.
Yeah, right. Me? Sure. I internally roll my eyes at myself. I bet she's seen or had better.
"Cut! Yes, Dakota! That was perfect!" Sam's voice breaks my thoughts and Dakota smiles at me, obviously pleased with herself. She should be.
"What'd you think? Do you think we did a good job?" she asks me.
"Sam sure thinks so," I tell her.
"Yeah, no shit, dummy, but what did you think?"
I laugh at her remark. It's like she's known me forever. "I think... you did a spectacular job. Honestly. The gay part was especially funny."
"I saw it. On your face, I mean." I give her a puzzled look. "It looked like you wanted to laugh," she explains.
"Fuck. Maybe Sam didn't catch that..." I turn in my seat looking for Sam. I was trying to portray Christian as someone very serious.
"No, it's okay! I think it fit well with the whole scene. Jamie, you should relax! You were amazing too. The perfect-"
"Christian! No doubt about it." Sam now stands in between us, her hands on her hips. "So tomorrow, be here at noon? I kind of want to go over some things for the next scene. Also, I've gotten word that they want you two for a promo photoshoot, just some headshots as Christian and Ana to let the public know we have started filming."
