I meet Ivy around the car and grab my suitcase from her. I go to grab her hand and we start to make our way towards this new chapter in our life.

" Hey look at me, you ready for this?" I say taking a breath and trying my best to comfort her although I'm very anxious myself.

" Yeah." She says confidently although I can hear the fear in her voice that she is trying so hard to hide.

" Good, your so brave" I say looking down on her with a smile.

I'm on what I guess you would call the porch when suddenly the door swings opens.

" Hi, you must be Alexia and Ivonne Duncan," the lady at the door asks.

" Yes, but she prefers the name Ivy." I respond.

As we walk into the first floor of the large building, it looks absolutely spotless. No grime, no dust on the windows, no food or anything laying around. I found it incredibly hard to believe that any house with this many children could be kept up to this level of neatness.

" Sylvia!" The lady that took us inside screamed up the stairs.

Suddenly a girl who looks around my age comes down the stairs. Wearing her dark brown hair in a messy bun, short pajama pants and a Harry styles shirt.

" Yes Ms. Gratz" She asks with a smile plastered on her face.

" Please show these lovely two ladies upstairs will you," She orders quickly to the young girl.

" Of course Ms. Gratz" She nods as she walks up the stairs motioning us to follow.

As soon as we had gone up the stairs far enough Sylvias smile dropped almost immediately " Welcome to what I like to call hell on earth." She had a bit of confidence and cockiness in her voice.

" Over there are the baby's, any girls aged 0 - 4 are over there, it gets really loud sometimes cause theirs like 12 of them right now. This way are the quicks. Kids ages 5 - 12 are really good for fostering or adopting or something so they usually don't stay here for more than 6 months. Then in here the basically hopeless, and that would be us. We're the teenagers, the people no one wants to adopt anymore we're too old. To scared we're gonna do drugs, get pregnant, steal a car whatever. So we basically are just waiting it out." Sylvia explains. After she's done she just walks over to her bed and starts to read a book.

I walk over near a place were two beds are next to each other and set our stuff on top of it. Ivy sits on her bed playing with her hands like she usually does when she gets nervous, as I try to grasp on to the place we will be in for who know how long.

I look around and it seems like everyone still has their shoes on probably because the amount of dirt that is caked on the floors. I slid our suitcases underneath the bed as that is what all the girls had done.  The entire room smelled like urine as it seemed like many of the littles still wet the bed.

The floor looked to be rotting through and the windows had boards on them. Which stopped us from having any fresh air. It felt like this place was more of a prison than a place any child could ever call home.

Finally night had approached and the lady who apparently ran this home called lights out. I lay there numb for a while kind of lost in my own little world. I tend to do that, I usually stall myself from falling asleep by making scenarios in my head to try and stop the nightmares.  I look around to see many girls sleeping underneath their beds. Wonder what's up with that?

Everyone in this room has had a hard life, something horrible had to happen to them for them to end up here. Many lay awake all night scared of the demons that might reach them in their sleep. Some woke others with the screams from memories they wished they could forget. Some stayed up all night listening to music with the random tear rolling down their face. I finally start to doze off once I realize that Ivy is perfectly safe in the bed right next to me.

The next morning before most of the girls are awake I go over to talk to Sylvia about some things. " Hey" I say sitting at the end of her bed.

" Hey" She mumbles not even looking up to make eye contact.

" Thanks for you know showing me how things work around here," I exclaim with a sad smile.

" No problem, let's just hope I'm still here by the time a parade day comes up, just for your sake of course." She laughs as if we have been good friends for ages and it's not like I just met her last night.

" What's parade day?" I ask with a clearly confused expression on my face.

" Its this sick day were they dress all the girls up in their nicest close and make them go stand out for all the foster parents to look at. It makes me sick. They have this list if rules basically, wear the outfit that " mother" chooses, don't speak unless spoken too unless you want to go to bed hungry and if asked about conditions at the home just say that everything is amazing" she explains to me with a disgusted look on her face.

" Most of the guys are pedophiles, but they don't seem too care." She rants with a look that says she's gonna kill.

" Your right, this place really is a hellhole"
