Chapter 40: How?

*Niall's POV*

Harry's flipping out now. It was a dumb bet. Liam was right, like always. Except when he and Danielle broke up, that wasn't right at all. But now he has Lara...I wonder if Lara can cook as well as Danielle? That remidns me that I'm hungry! When did we eat last? 20 minutes ago? Like seriously, I mean...Wait! Harry. Alaina. Bet. Right.

"Harry you're right, it was stupid." I say. Louis and Zayn look at me, shocked. To be honest, I wasn't planning on carrying out the bet. I really wanted the subs and $20 but I knew it was wrong. And I knew I couldn't lie, it would eventually get around. Just like when Alaina lied to Greg and Harry found out,. I was just gonna tell them that I didn't do it.

"I still can't believe you!" He shouts. "That's my baby sister! I trusted you!"

"Harry can I talk to you in the kitchen?" I ask him. He nods and we walk into his kitchen.

"What." He demands.

"They bet me and I felt scared. I was just gonna act like I forgot but I didn't. I couldn't do that to Alaina, I would never, ever consider it." I expalin. Harry just stands there, looking at the ground for a minute. He looks up at me and his eyes are red.

"I should've trusted you instead of just listening to them. I mean you can be so innocent when it comes to your girlfriend." He tells me.

"I have something for her." I whisper.

"What?" Harry asks. I reach into my jacket pocket and pull out a key necklace. It's a gold chain with a heart that had diamonds all over it with a key hole in the middle and a key charm connected. Harry's jaw drops. "Is that...is that for Laina?" He gasps.

"Yeah my mum says my dad gave it to her when they were dating. When Laina and I went to Mullingar that weekend, she gave it to me to give to Alaina." I explain.

"Go. Now. Give it to her." Harry demands. I wlak up the stairs and head towards Alaina's door, smile plastered on my face.

*Alaina's POV*

I lay there sobbing for what seems like forever. Eventually, I hear a knock on my door.

"What?!" I scream. The door opens.

"Princess? What's wrong?" Niall exclaims, coming and sitting on my bed.

"Um, I'm quite positive you of all people, would know." I snap.

"Babe, I don't know what I did!"

"I bet that you do. Maybe I can bet you that if you can't figure it out in 2 weeks, you would get in bed with me for 2 subs and $20!" I shout. Niall puts his head in his hands.

"Babe, that was a bet with Louis and Zayn and I was never going to conduct it. I came up here for a reason." He explains.

"Which is?"

"Yurn around and close your eyes." He instructs. I do as he said. I feel a necklace getting clipped around my neck. I open my eyes and look in the mirror.

"Ni, it's beautiful!" I exclaim.

"My father gave it to my mum when they were dating." I look into his eyes and gently kiss him.

"I'm so sorry." I say.

"I know. And you know what? I love you."

"And I love you." I reply.
