Julia POV
" Okay we're here, have a nice day at school" I said to my little sister as I dropped her off in front of her school.
" Yeah sure" she smiled then got out of the car and went into her school. I turned on the ignition then drove off to my own school.
Mayers High School.
I mentally read the name of my school as I parked my car in one of the empty spaces in the parking lot. I sighed as I got out of my car and locked it, tossing my keys into my backpack. It was finally the end of summer which meant another round of school work. Something I hated.
Hesitantly, I walked into the school building holding on to my bag and avoiding the gaze of other students.
" Julia!!!," A familiar, screechy voice called out to me. I whipped my hair around and saw my best friend, Casey running over to me with a huge smile on her face.
Before I could speak a word, she engulfed me in a tight bear hug that almost crushed my insides.
" C..can't breathe" I exhaled and she released her grip on me. Better.
" Oh my gosh, I missed you so much" she said as she pulled away from me.
" Same girl, how have you been? How was Paris?" I asked.
" Y'know I had a really great time in Paris. It was fun. Hot girl summer was lit" she said.
" That's amazing" I smiled.
" How was your summer? How did you spend yours" She asked.
" My parents made me take up a babysitting job all through summer because they want me to be more 'responsible' . To hell with responsible" I rolled my eyes and watched my friend as she laughed her butt off.
Can't blame her though, Casey's parents were really wealthy people with so much recognition and class which has made her popular even right here in high school while mine...basic and boring as I might state it and I really hated it.
" You know I heard we have a new student today, is that true?" She asked. And one more thing about Casey , she always has the best gossip.
" We do?" My eyes went wide.
" Uh - huh" she nodded.
" That's good, I guess"
We talked for a bit until the bell rang which meant classes had begun.
" I'll see you later" Casey hugged me as she ran off her to her first class, Maths. I really hope she'd be able to survive.
I walked to my first class, History and took my seat at the back of the class while watching other students come in. Some said hi to me while some seemed to snub. Their loss anyways.
After everyone had come in, our teacher, Mrs Brooks came in with the usual annoying grin on her face . I really wished to slap it out of her face sometimes.
" Good morning students, nice to meet you all after a long summer break. How's everyone doing?" She asked and only a few responded and I wasn't a part of them.
" Alright so we start off with the history of America" she said. Ugh, can this day get any worse than hearing this woman blabber nonsense throughout the whole day.
While Mrs Brooks taught, a girl walked in shyly and everyone's attention turned to her.
" Oh yes, I almost forgot... we're having a new student in our midst, you guys should meet Gabrielle" Mrs Brooks introduced the new girl who wore a smile on her face. I scanned her outfit up and down and it was nothing less than basic itself.
I watched as she fidgeted with the hem of her long skirt that covered her knees. Ew, does this look like 1879?
" You can go have your seat next to Julia, Julia Michaelson... please can you raise your hand?"
I hesitated for a bit, then finally put my right hand up and Miss 1879 walked over to the empty chair beside me and sat on it.
" It's nice to meet you" she smiled at me but I didn't return the gesture.
" Can you just not talk to me?" I said.
" Oh...I'm sorry" she apologized then focused on the lesson. I rolled my eyes, shook my head then focused on the boring lesson.
God, I hate it so much here.
