Eva was right, this town was quiet. It was a grey and cold day but perfect for looking around. She and her team drove in around 1200. They rode in large white trucks, with a small emblem on the driver side and passenger door. They had three trucks. One for two researchers including herself, one for two guards with a camper shell, and one for the two forensic scientists. She looked over at her colleague driving the truck. His name was Michal Johanna. He was of a large build and had dirty blond hair.
Their first stop was the morgue to ask some questions, get samples and hopefully get a lead. When they pulled up there were only a few cars in the parking lot, probably the workers. Eva got out and walked to the building. It looked nice. It was bright and had a shiny glass door. She pulled it open and walked up to reception as her team got out behind her. A man sat behind the desk, he was typing away at a computer. But he looked up at her and asked "how can I help you? Yes, my team and I are here on account of a missing body three days ago." The man paused and looked at Eva excitedly "you must be the professionals." "Yes that is us, do you mind if we have a look around. The man nodded "go ahead." Eva motioned for her team to come in, through the glass. Under normal circumstances they wouldn't have so easily come in and investigated, but the town was desperate and short on money. It was really not hard to convince them they were a full forensic team looking to find a killer. She motioned again for her team to come inside. The guards where to stay in their truck. The receptionist got out of his chair as Eva's team entered. "Right this way," he said, gesturing with his hand.
They walked behind the desk through an empty door frame. "Everything's in here, we didn't clean it so you guys could have a chance to take a look." Eva ran her hand over the scratched door frame, "what happened to the door? Oh it was shattered, ripped open, I got pictures before we moved it the receptionist explained pulling out his phone. "Here, look.'' Eva looked at the pictures and paused, he was correct, the door was destroyed, most notable was the large claw like marks on the edges of the shattered wood. "It's interesting." Eva looked up from the phone at her researchers. They were inspecting one of the cases. Its door had also been ripped off. Eva walked over. "What do you think Lilly?" Lilly was a young woman, smart and quick as a whip. Lilly was kneeling, her blond bun bobbed as she tilted her head up to look at Eva. "I think whatever I did this was huge." She pointed at a pool of dried blood and large strange footprints leading away. "I mean just look at those prints! She exclaimed. Eva's brow furrowed as she bent down to inspect them. They had three toes with evidence of long claws and looked almost reptilian. She stood up and followed the prints. It's strange, they just end like the blood ran out or it just disappeared.
Eva stopped and spun on her heel. She went straight to the receptionist. "You have cameras right? The man paused for a moment. "Yes, but the images are a bit hard to see." Eva didn't bat an eye, "That doesn't matter, let us see the footage." She demanded. The receptionist nodded " yes... um, just follow me." Eva turned and signaled her crew to follow. They walked back through the door to the receptionist's computer. He sat down and clicked off his browser, then on to files. "Here you go,'' he said, pointing at two files with the date from three days ago. "Mind if we download those, so we can go over everything?" Eva asked . The receptionist shook his head "Not at all, you can take them, just no posting them online or sharing them. Eva pulled out a thumb drive "of course, only me and my team will see them." She stuck the thumbdrive in the computer and copied the files. "Michal go take pictures of the scene."
She pulled the thumb drive out and handed it to Lilly, "Please go over this, have Jim and Shelly help you." Jim and Shelly were their forensic duo. Eva waited for Michal to return, and when he did they all went outside. Lilly tucked the thumb drive in her pocket and they got back in their trucks. Eva got on the radio. " Let's go back to the hotel and look over everything." There was a faint crackle before the others responded. "Got it, meet you there."
Yay another chapter, if you like comment so I know.
