I shook my head. A female in second place? It was unheard of. But that wasn't my problem. What was my problem was that there was a person standing only 3 meters from my hiding spot. I flattened myself into the slight crevice in the crumbled wall of an old house and watched as the man lit a cigarette.
I waited, and I waited, and I waited. After what seemed like an eternity the man finally stubbed his cigarette out, he then proceeded to throw it INTO MY HIDEOUT! Thankfully he didn't look into the tree hollow and see my few possessions that I had collected. As he sauntered away I rushed towards my hideout which was positioned in the hollow of a huge oak. I quickly found the cigarette and threw it away from my blanket, if that burnt I would have no cover and anyone who passed would see me sleeping. The sun was well above the horizon when I crawled into the hollow. Instead of sleeping during the night I slept during the day and used the cover of dark to creep around for food and other purposes. This helped hide me and made it easier to travel or forage without being shot or stabbed. I used my blanket as well as leaves and twigs to cover myself as I lay there waiting for sleep to overtake me. After only 4 months of adjusting my sleeping schedule I was still struggling, during the night I found myself tired while during the day I found myself restless. I lay there for what felt like hours before slowly drifting off to sleep.
