Pregame Headcannons

So basically, my idea of pregames is they're basically the same as ingames, except one change leads them to not get their ultimate and changes their personality. The ingames are basically the "what if"'s that the pregames hope for, which is why they got into danganronpa in the first place. They self projected and made oc's of themselves being ultimates as a coping mechanism for dealing with how boring or awful life is.

Pregame Shuichi never solved that case that lead him to become a shy ultimate detective. The truth of the case never surfaced and Shuichi never got the glare that changed his life. So he's basically an asocial yet confident person with moral ambiguity. He also has a very large sense of justice. How this justice is applied is based on what Shuichi personally thinks is okay. Ex: Kill a man? He thinks that's fine. Force someone to do the nasty? He will actively torture you in the worst ways humanly possible. Kick a toddler? That's fine bc toddlers are annoying. Traumatize a kid that's over the age of 6, and did nothing wrong? Will come for your kneecaps.

Pregame Kaede never learned the piano. Without that drive and obsession that ingame had, she finds life less interesting; almost boring and unfulfilling. She loses faith in humans because they never had much faith in her.

Kokichi's backstory is undefined. My headcannon for ingame Kokichi was that he was a foster kid who ran away from foster care with a bunch of his friends and started a little second home for kids who just have fun. That being said, pregame kokichi never ran away from foster care. He never got the confidence to be a leader and never had a good found family. Kinda was traumatized by his foster mother. She kinda forced him to do the nasty with strangers and also her.

Pregame Miu never got into inventing. She never learned to be confident in her abilities or apply her adhd (my hc for miu is that she has adhd and anxiety). Pregame Miu lacks the confident mask that Ingame Miu uses to deflect or hide some of her anxiety. She's more kind, a bit of a pushover because she never learned how to say no.

Pregame Kaito didn't have supportive grandparents like ingame Kaito does. He learned from everyone else to give up on his dreams, that it would be impossible to go to space. He doesn't have the supportive, idiot nature that ingame has because he never saw that in the world.

Pregame Angie doesn't believe in Atua. Her parents are really devoted, but she couldn't get nearly as close to their god as they were. She deals with knowing she's a disappointment to her religious parents. Eventually she just gave up.

Pregame Gonta never got lost in the woods. He learned pessimism and such from the world around him, and gave up his interest in bugs.

Pregame Kirumi is rather lazy. She doesn't have many values because she thinks it's a waste of time to learn morality.

Pregame Ryoma didn't kill the mafia. He often fantasizes that he did, but he never had the guts.  He's not very different from Ingame Ryoma, he's a bit more lively though.

Pregame Korekiyo never got too interested in anthropology. He and his sister have a damaged relationship after his sister s/a'd him. He often wishes he could forget about the trauma she caused, and that drove him to become addicted to intoxicants (weed, alcohol, etc) to escape what she did to him. His sister poisoned his view on all humans, and he often thinks that humans are vile, disgusting creatures (he's not too far off the mark)

Pregame Rantaro and Ingame Rantaro are the same. Since Rantaro has already went through the killing game, the producers thought it would be a waste to change him.

Pregame Tenko never learned Aikido. She still hates men, but she lacks the confidence that Ingame Tenko has, and never spoke up about it.

Pregame Himiko gave up on magic a long time ago. She still fantasizes about magic and such, but she knows it's not real, and has a bit of a hole in her heart.

Pregame Maki willingly joined the assassins. She wasn't born in an orphanage, but she needed money. She was never really a normal person; her kindness was forced when she was around strangers. Ingame Maki is Pregame Maki's way of justifying joining the assassin group. No one knows that she's an assassin except for Shuichi, Miu, and Kiibo.

Pregame Kiibo, unlike ingame Kiibo, is able to feel human emotions. And he hates it. He often wishes he could never feel anything at all, which is why he made Ingame Kiibo a robot. He also dabbles in weed and alcohol with Korekiyo, Rantaro, and (to the surprise of the rest of the cast) Kokichi.

Pregame Tsumugi is also the same as Ingame Tsumugi. Since she's the mastermind, she didn't go through many changes.
