taehyung didn't dare to look at the man sitting in front of him. they were in his room. the ravenette had made him sit on the couch as he dragged a chair to sit right in front of him.
taehyung couldn't look at him in the eyes, he kept his head ducked down when he felt the man reaching out for his hands.
jungkook had ignored all the stares the servants gave him when he walked inside the mansion holding taehyung's hand. he didn't even spare any seconds to his mother who stood up noticing the two- ready to inquire.
muttering a 'later' to her, he padded straight towards his room. taehyung didn't look up at anyone the whole time. his luggage was delivered to jungkook's room by a servant.
now the two were left alone in the large room along with a deafening silence. jungkook waited for the other to speak up but the brunet had no plans to, so he decided to take the initiative.
"these bruises-" he started carefully, voice gentle, "what actually happened in my absence tae?" he finally let out the question which had been eating him up.
taehyung was quiet. jungkook waited, his hands caressed taehyung's dainty ones, encouraging him to speak but taehyung just shook his head in denial.
"please." he insisted. taehyung finally let out a heavy breath.
"i f-fell from the stairs."
the brunet didn't know if his excuse was believable but he wasn't good at lying, especially lying to jungkook.
"if i was born yesterday i would have believed you." jungkook stated in a playful manner but taehyung knew the seriousness his words held behind them. it was a warning to him, a chance given to him to spill the truth.
"i don't w-wanna lie to you." he eventually mumbled in a shaky voice.
silence engulfed them again. jungkook stared at him for a few minutes before speaking again.
"do you want me to act like i didn't see you all shaken up, crying desperately as if someone hurt you real bad?" his voice was tender but taehyung hated it for some reason.
if the other had gotten all angry and yelled at him then maybe he wouldn't feel as guilty as if he's the one who did something wrong. inhaling a sharp breath he opened his plump lips.
"do you trust me jungkookie?" for the first time he gazed directly into the other's eyes. jungkook was quiet for a moment before he let out a chuckle, standing up abruptly and walking away.
taehyung felt his heart stop. the dark haired male raked his fingers through his hair, still chuckling to himself.
"i hope you know how ridiculous this question sounds tae." he spat, face hardened and jaw clenched. tears were already welling up in the brunet's eyes.
"have you looked at yourself in the mirror?!" the male raised his voice as taehyung let out a sob, flinching at the loud voice. jungkook never easily lost his temper but today it felt like no matter what he had to let it all out.
"i don't wanna jump into conclusions so give me a sensible explanation, tae . i swear i'll leave the topic and would never talk about it but- don't just deceive me." the man breathed out, eye brows knitted together as he gawked at taehyung.
"j-just leave it." the brunet whispered. jungkook closed his eyes in exasperation.
he sighed loudly before walking towards him and crouching in front of him. taehyung sniffled, reaching out to cup his face. jungkook let him, as he raised his hand to place them onto taehyung's.
"you ask me if i trust you but you know how unfair you're to me?" the young businessman muttered, voice laced with hurt.
"it's you tae- it's you who don't trust me. otherwise you wouldn't have been lying to me. i do trust you but you don't" with that he pushed away taehyung's hands and standing again.
