you squeezed out the best smile you could muster, though in reality you were about to throw up. some old man was hitting on you, and all you wanted to do was to slap him.
you tried reassuring yourself that it'll be fine, dragging yourself to the seat opposite him. diona and noelle had left to restock the flour, so you were all alone with nobody to help you.
he leaned in, attempting to stroke your face, but you dodged it sneakily, so his hand was just awkwardly hanging in the air. "give me your number." it wasn't a request, more like an order. who do you think you are??
"no-" you were about to politely decline him, but someone beat you to it.
"excuse me, that's my girlfriend you're hitting on. please leave." albedo lightly grabbed your wrist, giving the man a deathly stare.
the man, realising that he had been defeated, angrily left the cafe, muttering a string of curse words.
once he was well away from the cafe, albedo turned towards you, his stare laced with concern.
"are you alright? did he hurt you anywhere?"
after making sure you were okay, albedo was finally able to relax, letting go of your wrist.
"if he bothers you again, let me know. it may not look like it, but these fists are pretty good at punching."
as albedo excused himself for the bathroom, you recalled his words.
"excuse me, that's my girlfriend you're hitting on."
your face was tinged with a light pink, repeating the word "girlfriend" over and over again in your mind. you knew he only said that to drive him away, but that wouldn't stop your fantasies.

"HE WHAT??" diona's high pitched scream rang through your ears, causing you to flinch a little. upon the return of your boss and co-worker, you told them what had happened.
"i'm so sorry (name)! we shouldn't have left you alone! it's all my fault!" noelle was close to tears.
you breathed out a sigh. "noelle, don't blame yourself. no one knew that was going to happen. in the end, albedo helped me so it's okay." on the topic of albedo, you had also omitted the part about being his girlfriend to save face.
noelle let out a long sigh filled with regret, promising you and diona that she would never leave you alone in the cafe.
all you did was hug her tightly.
