"Nope! Begin!" The proctor announced and the many gates opened allowing all the genin inside ...

"This is creepy." Sakura whimpered as she looked around the creepy trees that she could see in the darkness. "Make a fire and start dinner." She said as she shivered.

Naruto unsealed exactly two bowls and a canteen of soup, "No. Everyone is actively hunting each other to get a matching set of scrolls. We can't risk being near a fire. I'll make a decoy campsite to lure someone in, but we can't be near it." He said as he gave them the steamy bowls of soup that were heated with seals and went to start a fire farther away.

"You ... said no to me?" A baffled pinkette murmured in disbelief as she watched Naruto make three clones to look like each of them. Naruto had the clones pretend to sleep in the sleeping bags, which were just henged leaves. She refused to admit that it was impressive. Instead she reluctantly gobbled down her soup as if she was trying to eat away the stress this new Naruto caused.

"Not in the mood to play peacemaker." Naruto said and he truly meant it.

With the entire team 8 madness, albeit ended with great new friendships, and the Orochimaru related plots he just wasn't in any mood where he can fake a goofy grin. Knowing this not only put him on edge, but it made him want to make less of a target than he already was. Of course, the goal of the test was to get an Earth scroll and a Heaven scroll and Sasuke took the scroll they were given. Naruto stole it without Sasuke knowing, but he made a point to let a few other teams see him holding it before they were allowed into the forest. Being a target is something he can handle better than his teammates.

Sasuke scoffed as Sakura spluttered. He hated the fact that the blonde had a good plan. However, he refused to think the blonde wasn't the same idiot that'd do anything without a complaint. To prove it he poured out his soup.

Once Naruto finished setting up the fake campsite Sasuke held out his empty bowl, "Mine spilled. Give me yours."

"Sasuke, I only pulled out two bowls." Naruto said pointedly hoping the Uchiha would get the hint that he wasn't getting more soup.

The Uchiha scoffed, "Liar. What were you going to eat? I'll have that."

"You want to eat vomit?" Naruto asked and shrugged when he saw the looks of horror and disgust on both his teammates' faces. "What? I already ate during the first exam. I'd give you something else, but we don't know how long this will take so I can't waste supplies. The last thing we need is to split up and hunt when we're being hunted." He whispered just loud enough so only his teammates could hear before sitting down with them to watch the fake campsite from behind a bush.

The pinkette looked nervously at her empty bowl and tucked it out of sight so Sasuke wouldn't see that she ate hers already, "And what's-" Sakura was cut off when Naruto shushed her. Her jaw dropped in shock, but shook it off and glared instead. "What about Sasuke?" She hissed as quietly as she could, still a bit embarrassed about eating her soup so fast. If she knew Sasuke would need it then she would have slowed down.

The blonde shrugged again as he watched the decoy between the leafy branches, "Go hungry or go hunt. It'll serve you right for being clumsy." He whispered and tensed as he sensed a team of three coming towards the campsite. No doubt they smelled the smoke.

Sasuke scowled, recognizing the remark as something he told Naruto to do many times before despite knowing that he shoved Naruto every time, "We can't risk separating now. We're being hunted, idiot." The Uchiha muttered trying to take credit for what Naruto said just a minute ago. It shouldn't have fooled anyone and it wouldn't fool someone with sense. However, Sakura did fall for it and swooned. "Make a clone and go hunt." Sasuke demanded.
