A/N:
Hey guys!

I can't even begin to say how sorry I am for updating so late. But hopefully this chapter will make up for it.

Mikaela's POV
-

Jen looked up from her browsing through a magazine on the couch when I entered the living room. She and I shared the apartment.
Her jaw dropped when her eyes took in my outfit.

"Wow. You look hot."

I laughed at her straightforwardness. "Thanks."

I was dressed in a coral red, low cut V-neck halter top, white skinny jeans and my favorite gold strappy heels. I didn't put my hair up; instead I let it fall freely down my back in natural waves.

I wasn't sure what to wear because Riker never mentioned where we were going on our date, so I decided on something casual, yet nice in case we may be going to a restaurant.

Derek took me to a fancy restaurant on our first date...

I shook the thought away immediately, forcefully pushing the memory down. Don't even think about it, Mikaela.

Jen tossed the magazine on the cushion next to her and propped her legs on the coffee table in front of her, looking amused.

"How is it that I can't get you to wear anything past a hoodie and old jeans, but then Riker comes along and you suddenly become reacquainted with the dark side of your closet," She commented with a teasing sparkle in her brown eyes. "I feel like I've failed as a best friend."

I laughed. "Oh, come on. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be going out tonight." Or even have left the confines of my room, I thought silently.

"Haven't decided yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing," Jen smirked. "I mean, who knows? If tonight goes too well, you guys might end up running away together to elope in the Bahamas, leaving me here all alone."

"That will never happen," I reassured her, even though I knew she was only teasing. "And besides, it's just one date."

"You say that now, but...after all, who could resist those glorious abs of his. I know you didn't."

"Jen!"

My eyes were wide as I felt my cheeks heat up. "I should never have told you about that night."

"I never knew my best friend was so frisky," Jen grinned.

"I got to go," I said abruptly, before Jen could get another word out. "He'll be here soon."

Unfazed by my discomfort, the cheeky smile never left her face. "Okay, have fun. And be back at a decent hour, Missy!"

"Okay, Mom!" I returned, quickly closing the door behind me.

-

I heard a car pull into the parking lot and looked up from playing Angry Birds on my phone. After Riker texted me saying he was almost here, I went downstairs to wait at the front entrance of the apartment so I could spot his car. The game was just a way to calm the nervous fluttering in my stomach.

However, recognizing the blue SUV Riker had described in his texts only started my nerves again. But I did my best to push it down, pocketed my phone and stepped out into the cool night air.

As I neared the car, Riker got out, jogging around to the other side to meet me.

"Wow, you look-" He stumbled, unable to form any words as he stared, mouth slightly hung open. But I already knew what he meant.

"Thank you," I said, flashing him a smile as he opened the car door for me and I climbed in.
