Hey everyone! :)
Okay, so first, I should mention that this is only the first part of a two part chapter (Next part will be coming soon)
**ALSO, just a heads up, this chapter is in third person. BUT I might be writing the next chapter in first person, so don't be alarmed if the next chapter suddenly changes views. I'm just testing out which view would be more suitable for the story.
So feel free to comment about what you think :)
Anyways, enjoy!
Picture to the side is Mikaela -->
----
“Mikaela, get up.”
Jen grabbed one of the pillows from the window seat and whacked the lump hiding under the layers of blankets on the bed. When she received no response, she tossed the pillow back where she found it.
“I know you’re not sleeping,” Jen said, crossing her arms over her chest and staring hard at the lump on the bed, “You’re lying as still as a rock. Bad acting on your part.”
Slowly, the covers started moving on their own and soon a face submerged from their depths, revealing crystal blue eyes with heavy bags under them and disheveled long blonde hair that hadn’t seen a shower in days.
Jen clutched her heart, her eyes wide, “What horrible creature did this to you?!”
Mikaela pulled herself up in bed, leaning back against the headboard. She looked exhausted, despite being in bed for the last week.
“I did this to myself, Jen,” She said sorrowfully, “I’m the horrible monster.”
Jen’s eyes scrutinized the girl with something approaching sympathy before she shook her head, “I will not let you blame yourself for something that jackass, Derek-what’s-his-face did to you. I’m actually shocked that you’re letting him get to you like this.”
“Well, get over it,” Mikaela muttered dryly, “This is who I am.”
Jen dropped her hands and rested them on her hips, frowning. “The Mikaela I knew was kind-hearted—though a pain at times—but she was the sweetest girl in the world who never gave a damn about what others thought of her. Now, all I see is a lumpy potato who had bedridden herself over some guy that wasn’t worth an ounce of her time.”
Mikaela narrowed her eyes at her friend. “If this is your way of making me feel better—“
Jen had crossed the room over to Mikaela’s closet to rifle through her clothes. “I’m simply telling how it is,” She responded, and pulled out a short, sleeveless black dress. She tossed it on the end of the bed, “Now, get dressed. We’re going out.”
“Going out?” Mikaela repeated in confusion, as if the word was a foreign concept to her.
Jen rolled her eyes, “Yes; going out, as in outside. The place with fresh air, sunlight, and—dare I say it—guys.”
Mikaela watched cautiously as Jen retraced her steps back over to the curtained window. With a yank of her wrist, she pulled the curtain open and sunlight flooded into the room.
Immediately, Mikaela shrank away from the blinding light, hissing in detest. She attempted to crawl back under the safety of her blanket, but before she could, Jen ripped it from the bed exposing the girl’s wrinkled pajama bottoms and T-shirt. Then she proceeded in folding the blanket and setting it on the window seat before turning back to her friend.
