I swivel around to face him startled.
"Well, Paige, I've got to say that I'd give you maximum points for creativity but I'm not entirely sure if we grade on that. I'm quite disappointed that all you seem to have gained from our archery session was brutality"
I do the one thing that comes to mind. I pick up a broken arm from the robot closest to me and throw it at his face. I know, real mature.
But, problem was that by doing this, I had defied the one rule that the fighters had put up. A rule that had cost a girl her life: Never attack a fighter on any occasion.Friedrick's laughing face had a 180° change as he saw the metal arm hurtling towards him. Before I could comprehend what the hell was happening, Friedrick had caught the metal piece and had pinned me down onto the ground.
"Do not do something that stupid ever again"
He chillingly whispers in my ear.Delightfully, my stupidness sometimes astonishes even me. Being the utterly dumb person I was, I knee him and run away laughing.
"You! You she-devil!" he screams at me.
Still giggling, I sprint out of the door all the way to the dorm. It's on my way there that I fully realise the weight of what I have done. I just kicked a fighter. I was going certifiably crazy. My head should have just turned into a bird, I was completely totally cucoo.
As I run without looking back, another person suddenly joins me from the left.
"Why are we running?" Riley questions
"I just kneed Fried-rickety"
"You did what?" Riley exclaims skidding to a stop.
"I just told you"
"Why on earth would you do something that idiotic" he asks me
"He called me stupid"
"Why?"
"I threw an arm at his face" I say cooly
"You slapped him?!"
"No, I threw an arm at him" I emphasise
"I don't even want to know" Riley says wildly shaking his head.
We fall into a comfortable silence. Riley doesn't ask anything more of my encounter with Friedrick and even if he had I was in no mood to answer. He seemed to have sensed this and had wisely decided to stay silent. Soon enough we found ourselves in the haunted corridor, I have a sudden urge to grab onto Riley's arm, close my eyes and ears before running away from here as fast as possible dragging Riley along.
"Oh hi jumpy" I hear a familiar voice suddenly call out
"Blake?" I ask only to remember that once more I was talking to plain air.
"Who's Blake?" Riley question
"What Blake? I said blade as in those blades" I defend myself pointing toward the archaic daaggers resting on the shelf. Riley may be a really good friend but even he didn't need to know that I was mad to the extent of hearing voices in deserted hallways.
"Those? The switch blades?" Riley asks tracing his hand across the glass.
"What did you call them?"
"Switch blades. It's a stupid name really but it was given because you could 'switch' from one blade to the other. There are unbelievable legends surrounding these two. Some say that they can even talk to their desired owner. They seem pretty old and feeble to me though, like they'd crumble away any second." Riley explains
