Wolfsbane

About an hour later, I woke up for the second time today. But, this time things were a lot more different. Everybody in the dorm was bustling to and fro. Clothes were flying here and there as everyone fought for the few clothes in the cupboard in the corner.

There were separate doors for male and female clothes and the rules were that once you took clothes, you kept them.

Since, we'd unfortunately not been allowed to bring our own stuff, the only clothes available were the ones in the cupboard.
So, my bag was still with Granny Moore. It wasn't like I was entirely prepared to become a fighter last morning.
I sat up on the bed and slowly remembered wolfie and the abyss. Slowly shaking my head, I wondered if it had all been a dream.

But before I could ponder on my wonderful imagining skills, I was pulled to my feet by Asia.
"We have to be in the cafeteria in half an hour, hurry!" she told me pushing me in the direction of the washroom.

Asia was already dressed in a black long sleeved top and black jeans, looking around I noticed that was how almost everyone was dressed.
Rubbing my eyes I walked to the cupboard and grabbed some clothes. Too sleepy to care what the hell I was taking. I went to washroom which was thankfully empty since I was the last one up.

Quickly showering, I got dressed in the completely black attire which was unfortunately a little too tight on my- everywhere. Because ignorant little me had just taken anything that looked like clothes. I stretched a bit and decided to suck it up because there was no way I was showing all 9 of the people out there what a klutz I was.

So I walked as normally as I could with the short tight pants out the washroom to see that people were exiting the dorm. Asia grabbed my arm dragging me along with her as we entered the beautiful cafeteria. It was different from the last time we were here. More loud and lively. Contestants were walking around and talking a bit. I stared around the large room. Most of the tables were occupied with people stuffing their faces with food. The tables were groaning under the weight of the many different dishes.
Alessandro was walking around asking people if they were enjoying the food and if they wanted any special foods or drinks

I came from a simple pack. I honestly didn't recognize half the food on the tables. But, just because I didn't know what they were made of, didn't mean I wasn't going to eat them. I thought as my stomach growled.
My wolf stirred inside me and started drooling at the sight of food.

Asia and I walked around in search of a table and soon got waved over by Hunter and Hayden. They were seated with their friend Leah.
Yeah, the psychotic scary Leah who was currently glaring daggers at me. Asia was completely oblivious to the glares and had started eating. Well, eating was a nice way to put it, she was literally attacking the poor food.

"You look like an animal!" I told her, taking the seat next to her.

"Mmm hmm ghuh" she replied with her mouth full of food.

"Do go on Asia," I said smiling playfully at her.

She glared back at me and quickly swallowed her food.

"Aren't we animals?" she repeated.

Okay, she's got a point there.

The appealing smell of food hit me, making my stomach growl in hunger. Well stomach be hungry no longer! I thought as I started dumping the brightly colored things that looked like food on my plate.

A few seconds later, I was stuffing my face just as much as Asia.

"It's so good!" I cried out.

"I know," she told me

Leah was looking at us in disgust as she slowly at with her little spoon. Ladylike and sweet.

The twins, on the other hand, were cheering us on to see who could eat the most in the smallest time. Needless to say, both Asia and I were fine with the silly competition.

Soon, everyone had finished their meal and was looking around wondering what we were supposed to be doing next. Alessandro walked in with a tray full of golden goblets filled with something that looked suspiciously like wine.
He gave everybody one, telling us to wait for it was for some sort of toast. This place was becoming less and less of a battle ground and more of a party.
I ran my finger around the rim of the glass, feeling a slight burn. Something just didn't seem right. I saw Alessandro bring out 9 different goblets for the fighters. Why would they get a different drink unless something was in our glasses?
I slowly ran my finger around the rim of Asia's glass feeling the same burn again. Nobody else seemed to have noticed anything.
Maybe I was just being stupid and paranoid. I wasn't really used to wines or alcohol so maybe that was the burn.

One of the fighters got up. I think the one who's name begins with a H.
Was it Harry?
"Nah, I'm pretty sure it wasn't" my wolf replied
Harper?
Mmm I think no
Hans?
That's frozen!
I think it was Henry.
Yeah that does sound a little right. He looks like a Henry!
Huh? So do I look like a Chloe?

Before I could ask my wolf exactly when she'd been able to tell what people belonged to which name. Which sounded completely ridiculous as far as I was concerned.
Henry, which I hope was his name, stood up and gave us all a smile. It was the sort of smile you expected to see on the Devil's face if you walked into hell.

"A toast," he said raising his glass, "to all of you fine competitors. We wish you plentiful of luck in these coming days!"

All 9 of the fighters, one still missing, raised their glasses to their lips as did the rest of the room.
The difference?
The rest of us began choking while the 9 of them watched with sadistic smiles.

Goblets fell from our hands, cracking on the floor. People were falling down one after the other. They were yelling, screaming. Henry's smile finally made sense. We were on the gateway to hell and the devil had just thrown us in the eternal fire.

I felt so hot, as if I was on fire. I could feel my skin burning and tingling and see blackened spots in front of my eyes. Everywhere burned: I couldn't talk.
Whatever I drank was burning my body from the inside out, literally. The smell of blood disgusted me, it was everywhere. I could feel everything I just ate come back up my mouth as I threw up. But I didn't get the acidic taste I expected in my mouth. Instead I could taste the metallic taste of blood.

I could no longer stand up-right, I was too weak. My head was spinning. And I fell right down onto the floor.

There was only one thing that might cause such a reaction in all of us wolves. Causing us to fall over, cough up blood and almost fall down dead:
Wolfsbane
~~

Hunter: Well, that was quite the climax

Author: Why Thank you! Somebody finally appreciates the work I put into this book.

Hayden: Oh no! We think you're the absolute worst! We were just talking about how we finally showed up in the chapter!

Author: And this is why I hate my life!

Chloe: I'm literally almost dying! Why do I have to die in every chapter

Author: Because it's fun for me

Chloe: Ugh! *storms away*

Asia: *groans* I'll go get her

Author: That's it for today, folks
Vote and comment!

Leah: Or else I will hunt you down and force a refrigerator down your throat!

Author: Huh?

Leah: Killing is so overrated. This is much more fun.
*laughs evilly and walks away*

Hi everyone, Hani here, I know this chapter is honestly disgusting and disturbing. It was really hard for me to write too.
But this book is based on Chloe's struggles to become a fighter which I want to show is nearly impossible.
So please stay with me on this!❤️
