Rust, What rust?

My fingers slip the broken locket into my pocket. I'm dumbfounded. I had just discovered that my mother has been some crazy ancient warrior and then I come back to find the one piece of her I have left in shatters.

Could it have been a harmless prank?

I mean, the fighters only knew my mum. They didn't know she had a sister, right? Even I didn't know she had a sister. And I'm her daughter. I should have known before they got to know.

Had someone broken the locket by accident? Maybe it was someone who was mad at me and believing that it was my family heirloom or something, they broke it? Cassiopeia? Leia?

My mind turns over all the possibilities, but I find my self dismissing all of them. Leia was dealing with the twins, wasn't she? And Cassiopeia had already left by the time Cliff came.

"Ugh" I groan, dusting the glass of my sheets and trying not to stab myself. I mean breaking a prized family possession is one thing, but leaving glass pieces to hurt me was just uncool.

I sweep up the floor and slowly close off any signs of damage. I wipe around the broken frame, clearing its edges of any loose glass and slip the locket in my pocket. This time, I was determined to keep it with me at all times. People here were not to be trusted.

That's when I notice a piece of paper on the ground. It had probably fallen during my intensive dusting process.

"Chloe, you're going blind" I mumble picking up the paper. Scrawled down in messy handwriting were the words "Only go digging in my past if you want to get hurt."

Ooh feisty.....

Who else knew these two women? They had lived 100 years ago. How did anyone here have anything to do with them? I was sure, now, that this was some sort of prank. They'd left the threatening note to creep me out.
"Nice try losers." I think tearing the note into tiny pieces and throwing it in the bin.

As I'm flicking the pieces into the dustbin, I hear someone enter the dorm. Quickly, I dump all the little pieces of paper in my hand before turning around, only to come face to face with Leia.

"Hi" I stutter trying to look innocent and failing pathetically.

My suspicions rise up once again and I wonder if she'd come in earlier while I was with Cliff. She obviously hadn't been with the twins. But before I could voice out my questions, Leia asks one of her own.

"What are you doing?" Leia asks looking confused.

I look around and see myself crouching near the dustbin with little pieces of paper scattered all around me.

"Uh" I start unsure of what to say next. Then, idiot that I am, I decide to try to gauge out a reaction from Leia.

"I dropped my locket" I tell her emphasizing on the word locket. "I was just looking for it"

My plan backfires as she looks at me with concern and offers her help with finding it.
I quickly change the subject, because if she came peeking, my lie would be caught out.

"Nah, I'll find it. Shouldn't you get back to the twins?"

"They wanted more itching powder. It's under Hayden's bed" she explains walking over and checking under his bed.

I sigh in relief and stand up dusting myself. Leia gets out a dark box and goes to walk out. But she pauses by the door and turns around to me with a devious, very Leia-like smile.

"There's a lump in your pocket, it may be your locket" she tells me right before she leaves.

I fall onto my bed. I'm convinced Leia had something to do with this. But what? How on earth did she know my mum and aunt?
