"I must keep running...", said Alex to himself as he was beginning to feel tired, it has been about 10 minutes since he had left the house, all alone in the dark he was afraid but kept going. Alex was worried about Alena, but he had to keep going and find a safe place to hide, only time may tell what will happen next. He arrived at the path where they had gone to collect candy and stopped by a bush and hid behind it. He was out of breath but decided to take some rest there. "I have to call Alena," he said as he reached in to his pocket and pulled out his phone. He dialed over and over and waited for her to pick up.
Meanwhile at Alena's point of view..
As tears streamed down her face, she rushed down the path that they had taken for trick or treating a few hours ago, she hoped that Alex was okay but all she could do now was to find a safe place to hide in. It was very late at night, she knew Alan was after her and that all this was her fault but she knew she had to go on. After running for what seemed like forever, Alena stopped by a small alleyway and tried to rest. Just then she felt a vibration right beside her, she panicked but realized it was just her phone, she reached in to her bag and picked it up to see Alex was calling her. "Alex? He's okay?!," she smiled as she answered it. "Alex! You're alright!," Alena said as she was in joy. "Yes I am fine I managed to escape, Alan is still in the house from what I remember he became unconscious as he fell down the stairs-", "Wait, what?!,", Alena interrupted, trying to process everything. "Yes, I felt horrible but i ran away, I went down the road where we went trick or treating in and it's so dark and scary here..", he said as he gulped. "Wait.. hold on, keep talking," Alena said as she began to walk down the path. As she walked further down she heard Alex's voice closer and closer till she saw a bush behind a wall, "Hello? Hey what are you doing? At least answer me while you're-," suddenly Alena peeped over the bush and accidentally frightened Alex as he turned around and screamed in surprise. Alena then placed her hand over his mouth," Keep it down! We are out in the middle of the night with some possessed boy after us!," Alena said with a annoyed expression on her face.
Alex nodded as she let go of her hand, "How did this even happen?," Alex said as he sighed and leaned against the bush. "It's that locket," Alena said, "That book and that locket are connected, so that book is no ordinary book," she said as she leaned back against the bush while trying to think. "If only he hadn't found that book, none of this would have happened," Alex said as he crossed his arms around his legs and teared up. "Hey, look it's not your fault, if anyone is to be blamed it's me," Alena said as she placed her arm around Alex. "Wait you are right!," Alex said as he turned towards her. "Huh? What do you mean-," "That book, you got that for Alan as a dare! Remember when we were out just a week or so before Halloween and you dared Alan to grab that book that was buried in the rubble of an abandoned house?," Alex said. Alena felt confused but thought about it, "Oh! You are right! I did tell him and that's when he had an attachment to that book, of course!," Alena felt excited that they had figured out how Alan got that book.
"And yes, it is your fault for that too," Alex said as he looked back at Alena with a disappointed face. "I know, I'm the worst big sister ever, I've done nothing but treat you both horribly, and I've always been jealous of Alan so I bother what means a lot to him on purpose," she said as she placed her hands on her face. "Means, a lot?," Alex looked back at her feeling confused. "Why of course, he values you a lot so much, he would do anything to make sure you won't get hurt," she said as she began to feel ashamed.
Alex's eyes lit up as he smiled to himself and placed his hand around her, "Look, it will be okay, you are our only sister and we love you so much, and I'm sure Alan does too so we can solve this together!" Alena smiled and hugged him. After a few minutes they broke their hug and felt more confident. "Now we know that the book is connected to that locket or the "Spiral", and that the spiral man is now Alan.." Alena said as she began to count with her fingers. "And that he found the book from an abandoned house," Alex added. " Yeah, that should be all that we need to know then, right?", said Alena. "Wait, we need to get the book, the book has all we need to know about the locket and perhaps it has information on how to stop that locket from taking control over Alan!," said Alex as he pumped his fists up. "Yes, that is true, but how do we get that book back if Alan is in the house?," Alena said as she looked worried. "I got a plan," Alex said as he grinned.
"Alan used to do his own research about the book and he used to tell me that a legend revolves around it that is considered to be just a work of fiction however as we know, it is in fact real but if we can dig deep and look at what that book holds then we can be prepared when facing him and we can know what to look for!," Alex said as he reached in to grab his phone. Alena watched as he began to scroll against some articles, after a few minutes she could not believe what she was seeing," See! Perfectly described the book, it says here that the book consists of powers that revolve around time, it also allows you to warp it to go back into the past, or future, or change something in the present, however this power also holds other factors such as the ability to boost sight, strength, hearing and scent," he read as both of them looked back at each other and gulped. "This doesn't sound too relieving," Alena said as she began to shake in fear. "Wait there's more!," Alex said as he kept reading, "The spiral is said to be a creation that was made with power that controls someone and their deepest hatred and uses it against them to allow them to grow stronger and do their desired wish, the power is meant to protect someone dear to them so if anything were to oppose it, they would terminate it."
"T-t-erminate?!," Alena said as she stuttered," Yes, this means he really is out to get you," said Alex feeling nervous. "The power of the spiral allows manipulation, therefore it can only stop if the user does so themselves," said Alex as he read more. "Since something that opposes that power has to be something that means a lot to the user, and the only way that it can be stopped is by the user doing so themselves then I have to be the one to convey to Alan to stop using that power," said Alex as he looked down. "It's too dangerous," said Alena, "But then he will kill you, and I don't want to lose you," said Alex as he looked back up with tears in his eyes. Alena looked to the side and began to shed a tear as she thought to herself, " This is all my fault and now Alex is trying to put himself first to protect me even after all I did, I don't deserve this.." "Look, I know you can do this, we can do this, we know a lot now so, all we need is.." Alena said as Alex looked back at her and put his fist out with a smile as she brought her fist up and together as they fist bumped they synced and said, " a plan! "............
