Chapter 1 - Eye Of Youth

I'm finally here. My old high school. I looked at the gate I just unlocked and a gust of nostalgia overcame me. I step inside to take a walk around the campus. It has been years since the campus has been abandoned. I took a look around the campus, the mouldy stone and overflowing vines sent chills down my spine. How bad could it be, I know my way around this school.

I walk into the second block where the nursery and kindergarten was. I remembered the children being separated due to fights that broke out. I entered the block and something didn't sit right with me. The children block was completely renovated. Not a single crack or piece of rubble on the ground. I walked in the assembly hall and admired the lively atmosphere of the kindergarten. I remembered the sounds of children giggling. The kindergarten block was always so lively.

Suddenly, I heard a faint giggling. It sounded like a child's voice. I turned around swiftly. A faint shadow lurked in the corner of the room. It looked like a small girl with abnormally large arms. I walked away from the girl ever so slightly but she started giggling.

'Let's play a game of Tag!' the little girl exclaimed.

I was startled by the request. It indeed sounded sketchy but I didn't had the heart to say no. Maybe because I thought that girl was a hallucination of my mind. So, I weakly answered with a yes.

She grinned at me and disappeared. A loud countdown eradicated from the speaker. It started counting down from 10. I quickly knew that I made a horrible decision. I ran towards the exit but it led me to the same room. I knew this was no ordinary game of Tag. I quickly thought of places to hide. I decided to run towards the teenagers block of the school as I know every nook and cranny of that block.

Suddenly, a loud buzzer rang and a 2 minute timer appeared on all the screens in the school. Suddenly, I heard a loud scream.

'Ready or not, here I come!' the little girl, who now I know refer to Mikaela, said ever so slightly.

I ran towards the classrooms as I knew where the blind spots were. But as I was climbing up the stairs, I heard very fast footsteps and a little girl's giggling. She was close. I rushed into a classroom and hid under the tables near the window. The little girl's giggling soon disappeared. I needed a plan if I wanted to get out of there alive.

I tried to think of a way to outsmart her but my ideas were all black and fuzzy. I decided to act on instinct. When I hear her giggling again, I will knock down a pencil holder on a table and run out of the room to the next classroom. This way, she will be distracted by the noise to notice the slight movements of my body. I decided to test it out. I heard her sinister cackling and dropped a pencil holder. As her footsteps got closer, I rushed to the other classroom. Surprisingly, it worked like a charm. I looked at the screens displaying the timer, I was halfway through the nightmare. But suddenly, a loud giggling can be heard from the top of the table I was hiding under.

'Tag, you're it' she whispered in a bone chilling tone. She passed me a torch which looked like a bomb and scrambled away. I finally knew the mechanics of the game. We were playing Bomb Tag. I had to give her the bomb in order to survive. But it wouldn't be easy due to her high agility. I took a time to think about my chances. If i cant catch up to her, I could outsmart her. I could pass her the bomb when she runs pass the classrooms.

I waited until I heard her footsteps again. This time I ran out of my hiding space and quickly threw the bomb out the classroom door. The bomb landed directly on Mikaela's hands. In a sudden motion, the bomb detonated. Leaving nothing but a trace of blood splattered on the walls and floor.

The timer struck zero and I knew that I had won. But something told me that it was just the beginning. Something more sinister was about to happen. With this reminder engraved in my head, I left that forsaken building. But little did I know, the spirit attached to me...
