My red converse keep me dangerously close to the edge, rubber soles being sprayed with a salty mist. The flowing water below is far from a contrast to the rest of the forest, both tranquil and bright.

The area is practically dripping in safety hazards, which is exactly why I decided to come alone, rather than dragging along Big Red. Since he'd probably break down into a panic if he saw what I found comfort in.

The bridge I stand on leads to a rundown factory, and as is it unused ── by all besides me, of course ── it is overtaken by weeds that peek out of every crack in the old concrete.
