It's been a couple weeks since the first home game. I try to find out who this Nick person could be. I've asked everyone in the friend group but no one knows anything. Or if they do they won't tell me. Mom kept the secret of Evans wearing my jersey at the game. Especially after I told her he was just a friend.

"Nicole." Knock off Jesus takes me out of my thoughts when I walk through the front door of the school. "I have a question for you." I raise an eyebrow looking at him. "What do you think of me asking Lizzie to the homecoming game?" He asks me. I stop as he walks past me. It takes him a second to stop and realize I wasn't next to him anymore. "What?"

"I want to ask Lizzie to the homecoming game. I really like her, I thought me wearing her jersey would clue her in, but she's clueless." He answers like I didn't hear him. I did, I just don't want him to go to the dance with her. I get this deep feeling of despair in my stomach. Why does this bother me so much.

"You should."

"Great. Thanks."

Lizzie takes that moment to walk over. "What is going on here? You two never talk." She points between us slinging her arm around my shoulders as she does every morning. I shrug off her arm making her give me a sad look. The look broke something inside me.

"Lizzie do you want to go to the homecoming dance with me?" Knock off Jesus asks the girl on my left. She glances at me giving me a look. "Um..." "Nicole told me I should." "You did?" Her gaze snaps to mine almost immediately. A hurt look flashes across her face. She looks back at Robbie before answering. "Sure." She answers unsurely, but he was unaware of her voice being unsure. "Awesome. I'll see you around. I'll text you to hang out soon." "Cool." Lizzie answers smiling politely.

As soon as Robbie walks away Lizzie turns to me and just walks away without saying a word. What the hell did I do? "Idiot." Florence's voice surprises me from behind. "What?"

"Lizzie likes a guy named Nick right?" I nod answering her question. "What does she call you?" "I don't know what that has to do with anything." "Just say it." She states impatiently, "Nic.... I'm Nick?" I ask looking at Flo. "A dios mío, soy una idiota." (Oh my god, I'm an idiot.) I whisper shaking my head. I head off in the direction Lizzie went.

"Lizzie." The girl stops and turns to me. "I'm Nick." I state immediately as her eyes make contact with me. Her eyes widen at the idea of me finding out. "I-I." I pull her to me looking into her eyes. "Is that why you seemed hurt when Robbie said I said that you that he should ask you?" She flushes a bright red looking down. "Elizabeth. Look me in the eyes." I whisper, she slowly looks up to look me in the eyes. "Yes." She mutters almost inaudible.

"I'm Nick?" I state with a question again looking at her. This time wanting an answer from her. "Yes." She whispers lookin back down at the ground. Fuck it. You only live once. I think before just jumping in and doing something. I gently grab her chin guiding her back up to look at me, I glance at her lips, no going back. I lean down capturing her lips in a kiss. It takes her a second to realize what is happening.

Once she realizes what is happening she starts to kiss back. When air finally become apparent we both pulled away at the same time. "Wow." She whispers faintly. Our foreheads were still touching. I could feel her eyelashes brush against my cheeks.

"You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that." Lizzie whispers squeezing my hand softly. "Oh I can guess." I tease pressing a soft kiss to her nose.

"Cancel your homecoming date with Knock off Jesus please." I state wrapping my arms around her waist pulling her close for a hug. I can feel her laughter before I hear it. It brings a smile to my face. "Knock off Jesus?" She questions when she finally gets her breathing back in order.
