9. Rody Helps Unpack & Bakugo Saves Me

We make our way into the kitchen, which is becoming lively as people are waking up. Kirishima and Kaminari are playing video games together on the TV, Momo is sitting at the kitchen counter reading while sipping tea, Bakugo is making cereal, and Uraraka and Tsu are on the couches talking to Midoriya and Rody.

"Wow," I comment toward Kirishima and Kaminari. "You two got up early to play video games?"

"Nope," Kaminari says, eyes still fervently focused on the game. "We've been up all night."

"THE HECK!" I exclaim, my eyes popping open. "Go to bed!"

"It's too late now," Kirishima points out. "Besides, it's our break! There are no rules."

I shake my head credulously. Boys.

I head over to the kitchen and start to make a bagel.

"There's still hot green tea if you would like some," Momo comments but immediately returns to her book.

Todoroki starts to pour himself some tea. "Would you like a cup too, Dessa?"

"Sure, thanks, Todoroki!"

"TEA IS FOR NERDS." Bakugo feels the need to voice his opinion.

I roll my eyes. "And Trix is for kids," I point at his fruity cereal.

"WHATEVER, YOU NERD." He angrily shoves cereal into his mouth as he heads over to sit at the bar tabletop in the kitchen.

When I'm done making my bagel, I take a seat next to Bakugo, and Todoroki sits next to me, Momo on the last seat on the other side of Todoroki. Todoroki starts eating an egg rice dish he grabbed from the fridge.

Bakugo looks at me and gives off a grumpy grunt. "What do you think you're doing, sitting next to me, extra?"

Again, I roll my eyes. I give him a playful nudge with my shoulder. "You afraid I have cooties or something?"

Bakugo again lets out a dissatisfied grunt and continues to chomp away on his cereal, loudly chewing with each bite.

I turn toward Todoroki and ask him what his plans are for today.

"I think several of our classmates are heading to the school pool today after breakfast. It's supposed to be one of the last sunny days before the rain kicks in."

"Oh! That sounds fun! Are you planning to go?"

"Maybe. If you go, I'll definitely be there."

I giggle lightly, "Great, it's a date then!"

Bakugo lets out a large coughing, choking sound. "WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT HANGING WITH ICY HOT," he angrily yells. More quietly, he adds, "Guess I'll have to be there to protect you from that pervert."

"Bakugo, why do you keep making these false claims about me? It's not very hero-like to be spreading rumors." Bakugo only gives a small "tsk" as he stands up to wash his dirty dishes.

As Bakugo washes his bowl, Todoroki turns to me. "Oh, Dessa, you have some cream cheese on your face." He grabs a napkin, leans in close to me, and gently wipes my cheek. I turn a slight pink in response to his closeness and tenderness with such a simple action. Once he's done, he continues to look into my eyes in a dreamy frozen state.

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU!" Bakugo breaks up the trance as he slams his hands down on the table between me and Todoroki. "A PERV!"

Momo slams her book close and stands up. "Bakugo, why are you so loud in the morning! I was trying to read! Leave the two alone!" She walks off up to her room.
