Today was the day. I had been training since childhood to finally be here. UA High. Sure, things didn't go as planned, and I was starting late. But here I finally was, transferring from the States.

I check the map on my phone. Okay, I just head straight and make a right up at B street. I was looking at my phone, and I didn't notice someone approaching from the alley on my right. He was busy looking at his paper map and didn't notice me either.

"Ahhh," I exclaim, my phone flying out of my hand as I collide with him. His map also flew out of his hands and fell into a puddle. "Oh gosh," I lean down to pick up his map. It was soiled. "I am SO sorry!" I give an apologetic grimace. I stand up to hand him his map and finally take in his figure. The first thing I notice are his stormy, stoic grey eyes. He wore a red band across his temple, in which a pair of sunglasses rested. A small bird peeks out from behind his neck. The pair look fogly familiar.

He sighs, and looks disappointedly at the damp map. "Ah, no worries. I'm at fault here too."

Still, I feel guilty. "Hey, I'll buy you a new map! Where are you headed? Maybe I can help you get there?"

He tilts his head, amused. "UA High."

"Whhhhat!? No way, so am I!" I am brightened by the news. Maybe I could make up for the accident. "Let's go together?!" I smile, my arms pump in excitement.

"Sure, I guess you do owe me anyway," he laughs lightly.

I scratch the back of my head and smile weakly. He's not completely wrong.

"Well, we're almost there." I point ahead. "We just need to make a right up ahead and then we should reach the hill that leads up to the school. Let's go!" He nods and follows me.

"I'm Dessa Slate by the way."

"Rody Soul."

"So what're you heading to UA for? Are you a student there?"

"No, I'm actually visiting friends."

I stop and stare at him with a shocked face. "No way?! I'm actually transferring there. I wonder if I'll be in the same class as your friends?"

He holds his index finger up to his chin, pondering. "I'm not sure... I'm actually visiting from Otheon, so I don't know how their school is set up."

As we continue to head toward UA High, I tell him a little about how I'm transferring from the USA. After asking how he came to know people from UA High, I find out he was part of the World Heroes' Mission.

"What! That is AMAZING!! I remember seeing that on TV. No wonder you look familiar! I bet being super famous, you must be living a good life!"

He laughs. "You'd be surprised. The celebrity life died off pretty quickly. But I was able to get a job and now I'm working to get my pilot's license. That's how I got here actually. I flew myself here as part of my required flight training."

My eyes shine, "Again, that is AMAZING! Rody, you are so cool!"

"Nah," he shrugs off. The little pink bird on his shoulder blushes deeply.

"Oh," I point at the bird. "I've been meaning to ask, who's your little friend?"

"Her name is Pino. She's like my mascot, haha."

"She's adorable! Can I hold and pet her?"

Rody looks shocked. "Uh, sure, if you want..."

I reach for Pino, pull her in and give her a hug. "Aww, you're so cute!!!" I place a kiss on her cheek. Pino turns a deep shade of red, and Rody's cheeks turn a little rosy as he backs up. Stammering, he says, "U-Uh, I didn't realize you liked her that much."

"Duh, who could resist this cutie?! She's been making the cutest expressions!"

Rody looks down at the ground and nervously scratches the back of his head. He looks up and exclaims, "Oh, I think we've arrived!"

I let go of Pino, and she rashly flies back, taking cover behind Rody.

I turn my head to face a giant fence adorned with a gated entrance. I look at the time on my phone. I laugh, "Ha, I'm actually here super early. I was pretty nervous I'd get lost. I'm super bad with directions." I actually got lost 4 times on the way here before running into Rody. "I'm supposed to sign a few final papers at 11 am." It is only 9:45 am.

"Oh, well, I think my friends would be cool if you hung out with us until then."

"That would be great! I'd love to meet people from the school!" This works out nicely. I'm not the best at making friends.

"Cool. I'll just text Midoriya, my friend, that I'm here."

"Wait - what? First, you have a phone? Dude, why were you using a paper map then?" I shake my head. "And secondly, when you say Midoriya, do you mean IZUKU MIDORIYA?! The hero who saved the world?!"

Rody smiles nonchalantly. "Oh, so you've heard of him? Yeah, he needed my assistance during the world heroes mission. No biggie though. Although," he pouts, "I'm a little upset you remember him but not me."

I laugh lightly, embarrassed by this fact. "I did a little research on my possible classmates... You don't attend UA High, so I didn't research you, no offence."

He looks mildly disappointed. "Ah, that's fine. It's not like I want to be a hero anyway." He turns away and quickly sends a text. I fumble over what to say next.

"Hey. Rody, you are pretty cool from what I can tell. You're almost a pilot! That takes guts. By the way, what was your quirk any---" I am interrupted by a green-haired boy running up, who excitedly shouts Rody's name.

"ROOOOODY! IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" As he makes it to the gate, the gate automatically opens for him. "Come on in!" He stops and looks at me. "Oh?" His head tilts. "Who's this?"

Rody puffs up his chest and places one hand on his hip, the other hand points toward me. "This is my newest friend, Dessa Slate!" I give a shy wave. "She's actually transferring here. She's early for her appointment. Mind if she joins us for a bit?"

Midoriya smiles wide, his smile reaches high on his cheeks. "Of course! The more the merrier! Let's head to the dorms."
