Much like the lazy, fluffy clouds in the winter sky, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's days list along easily as the unexpected duo begin to ease into some semblance of a routine. Every morning LanWangji puts an admirable effort into encouraging Wei Wuxian to follow the sleeping cycle of the Lans, waking the man before dawn with a small tap to his roof, and Wei Wuxian puts the same effort into sleeping in past nine, often letting out loud and comical snores when Lan Wangji gets huffy outside his bedroom window.

Once Wei Wuxian is awake and fed they move to the library. Well, Wei Wuxian moves into the library and Lan Wangji takes up his post beneath its window. Wei Wuxian has thrown himself quite completely into researching the curse—when he doesn't become distracted by ancient tales Or Lan Wangji's old reports—and spends most of his day digging through the books or reading to LanWangji from his window, the dragon sitting as neat and as close as he can. After lunch has been acquired Wei Wuxian happily tends to the small field he has claimed for his farming endeavors and chatters away to a very polite Lan Wangji who always makes sure to keep his feet well away from the tiny, tiny sprouts just beginning to break through the soil. I

t's one of the high points of Wei Wuxian's day, seeing the proof of his hard work. And, more importantly, it's incredibly amusing watching such a large and imposing creature like Hanguang-Jun very carefully edge around a garden nearly a quarter of his size.Evenings are then spent with Wei Wuxian tending to the kitchen, cooking, or doing his best to clean, before finding new and odd ways to amuse himself once his husband retires to bed.

Typically he retreats back to the library, but sometimes he'll write letters he never means to send or draw small doodles to later tease Lan Wangji with. Finally, he bundles himself up in all the blankets he could ever need and collapses into sleep to the static hush of snowfall or the gentle sound of a winter breeze.Monotonous. Simple. Carefree. These are how they share their days, and so these are how their days continue.*Having been chased inside by the retreating sun and locked in due to a moonless night, WeiWuxian takes to mindlessly wandering the mansion, half on the lookout for his suddenly reclusive husband who vanished some time ago despite nine p.m. being several hours away.

He turns a corner, having decided to check the courtyard near the Jingshi for the third time when he suddenly spots a man standing at the far end of the hallway. Completely at ease and in his house."Who," Wei Wuxian starts, centering his stance as his hands curl into fists. His voice catches the man's attention, who turns with barely any hint of an expression on his pale and impassive face. He's tall, broad, and distractingly beautiful; with thin, blue horns curling out from his forehead, sitting just above a white forehead ribbon. He can't be human but Wei Wuxian pushes any worry about this aside."Who are you!" He demands, jerking his chin up in defiance. "I'll have you know my husband is the lord here!"This seems to shock some semblance of surprise on the man's features and Wei Wuxian feels a pretty sense of pride at it. He makes to step forward, to demand a response, when his "guest" finally speaks.

"Wei Ying," he says and Wei Wuxian immediately falters.

"It's me."As the man—Could it be...?—seems to search for something else to say, Wei Wuxian hastily scrambles towards him.

"Lan Zhan...?" He asks because he has to make sure. The man—Lan Zhan!—nods. He's then not given another chance to speak before Wei Wuxian is tumbling into his arms and grinning his bright, bright smile so, so close.

"Lan Zhan! You! You're human! The curse, did it break? Why do you still have the horns? Aiyah, you're so handsome, Lan Zhan, I can't believe someone cursed him away!!"His affection leaves Lan Wangji in quite a predicament. Not even Lan Wangji's own brother has ever acted so familiar with him and so he struggles to think of a response, giving Wei Wuxianplenty of time to grab at his horns and clothing, making an absolute mess of Lan Wangji's personal space."Not broken," Lan Wangji manages eventually—which, thankfully, encourages Wei Wuxian to pull back and meet his gaze from a more respectable distance. Lan Wangji swallows and takes another step back, straightening his posture. " So long as the moon is bright," he recites, relieved when it comes out even. "Only then is the curse in full effect."
