"Hey remember Niall?" I say to Mum.

"How can I forget him?" She replies.

"Well, he's famous now," I tell her.

"You're kidding."

"No." I google "Niall Horan" and show her Google Images.

"That's Niall Horan nowadays? He's a fine looking boy!"

"Mum!" I hiss, because that's kind of embarrassing. I don't tell her that I always thought Niall was a cute boy. "Anyway, do you still have his phone number?"

"I'm sure I do," she says. "I'll go look for it." Half an hour later she came out holding a price of paper. "Here's his mum's old mobile number. I don't know if it works anymore. Try it." I called the phone number. Within a few seconds a familiar-sounding lacy picked up.

"Hello? This is Ms. Horan."

"Hi, Ms. Horan!" I breathe.

"Oh, not another crazed fangirl! I'm sorry, hon, but I just don't have the time."

"No, it's me, Carolyn."

"Niall's old best friend?"

"Yeah. Is Niall there? I want to say hi." Ms. Horan laughs.

"No, dear, he's not around. But the next time I speak with him I'll mention you called."

"Maybe we can arrange something!"

"Niall would like that. I think he's missed you."

"Ok! I'll speak to you soon, Ms. Horan!"

"Goodbye, love!" I can't believe my old best friend was now a famous celebrity. And I might get to reconnect with him! Maybe I'll be able to tell him how I feel about him! Maybe he likes me too. But probably not. He's a celebrity. He's got models and girls prettier than me to choose from. But imagine if he did like me, more than a friend? That would be amazing!
