Amy was violently shaking her bag hoping that something in her would make a sound in her bag and she could pass it off. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
“Is that your new ring tone?” Jess asked quickly.
“Oh yes that’s right, I forgot I changed it! Haha that’s awkward,” Amy awkwardly laughed it off.
“But wasn’t that the voice of…” Nancy started.
“Nathan, isn’t it!” Maddie interrupted.
“Yeah,” Amy put on a half convincing smile.
I watched on as the security guard raised his eyebrows.
“Well make sure to put your phone on silence,” was all he said before allowing us to go through.
Amy raised her hand to wipe her brow but Nancy looked at her and she quickly changed it to pushing her hair behind her ear. We were looking at each other to hope that Nancy didn’t notice.
“Come on, don’t you want to meet them?” she said walking ahead of us.
We walked after her, but less enthusiastically, we had no idea what was to come.
We arrived at another door and the security guard looked at our tickets and led us through to yet another door. Now there was a young lady with long brown hair standing at the door and she smiled at us as we approached.
“Hello, I suppose you’re here for the backstage meet with The Wanted?” she said to us.
We nodded our heads and she knocked on the door we were standing around. She turned the handle and ushered us through the door. We stood there and looked at the five boys in front of us. We could name none of them, well we knew some of their names but we didn’t know who was who. Nobody has time for that.
Nancy was having a breakdown as the rest of us stood there not really knowing what to do. We hadn’t thought this far.
“So hi,” one of them said to us.
We awkwardly said hi back and Nancy was still in tears.
“Not as excited as your friend to see us?” another one said.
“She has a lot of deep emotions,” Kylie said and her bag moved a little.
“Did your bag just move,” the tallest one said.
“I accidentally hit it,” I covered up.
He looked at me with a suspicious look on his face. I smiled to try and make it look more convincing but it didn’t look like he was taking it.
“But you didn’t move,” he said.
“Didn’t I?” I tried to play it off.
“Maybe it was the wind,” Amy added.
“Strong wind then,” some other member raised his eyebrows.
“Considering we’re in a building too,” another added.
“Does it really matter?” Jess sighed.
“Yeah, it’s not like there’s a magical force or anything in here,” Maddie added.
Everyone but Nancy stiffened. Damn it! Now their suspicion had increased. Jess turned to Nancy and whispered in her ear.
“Hey can you come to the bathroom with me?” she said.
