(A/N: meet your new Zachary Henderson- Luke bilyk)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

"Honey, is that you?"
I clattered through the front door exhausted from my first day at school.
"Yes.."
"So how was it?" My mum emerged from the kitchen already a mess. However when she's a mess in the kitchen, the food strangely tastes nice.
"It wasn't too bad, made some friends... acquaintances."
'Told you you'd get attached!'
"You know it's alright to make friends."
"What, so I can say goodbye to them in a couple of months time, or is it going to be a year this time?" I snapped.
"Josephine, do not raise your voice at me." my mother raises her eyebrows in that creepy way all mothers do, you know you can't argue with that look.
"Look all I'm saying is that I don't think we are moving this time."
I walked upstairs to my room without another word.
❤️❤️❤️
The next day I woke up to one of the most annoying sounds on the planet- my brother.
"No! That looks so gay.."
I turned and groaned into my pillow. Great start to the morning-note the sarcasm.
"Honey you look adorable."
My mothered cooed, she's very persuasive, however not persuasive enough.
"No!"
The morning at school was just a blur like every other day. Lunch came before I knew it and I sat at the girls table again.
"Josephine?" Adriana started.
"Yea?" I asked tiredly.
"Are you trying out for the squad today?"
Shit. I totally forgot about that.
"Um... today?"
"Yeah after school at four."
I looked at her nervously before I replied.
"Well.. the thing is... I kinda forgot, but I don't think id be worth your time anyway."
"Nonsense!" Ali interjected.
"But-"
"Stop right there missy, before you make any excuse I have spare clothes you can borrow and I'll give you last period, we've got maths right?"
I was dumbfound, all the girls look at my shocked expression but they all just looked amused. My expression quickly turned to a defeated one.
"Fine. whatever."
Big, warm hands touched my shoulders as my heart leaped into my stomach.
"Hey ladies"
"Hey Zach."
Deja vu.
"We need to talk."
"I have nothing to say to you."
I refused to allow my body to turn and look into those wonderful warm brown, because my conscience and I both know we'll fall for them.
"Yeah, well I have something to say to you."
He put on his husky voice and I sighed because I knew I couldn't say no. I got up and walked out of the cafeteria knowing he was following, I came to such an abrupt stop I was surprised he didn't bump into me.
'Bet you wanted him that close'
"What do you want now?"
"To apologise for being a noxious yesterday."
"Do you even know what that word means?" I muttered under my breath.
"After looking up in the dictionary, yes."
I blushed and looked down, knowing that I should have really said that in my head.
"Can we please start again?"
I stared at him contemplating and then realised I needed to reply.
"Yea.. yeah sure."
He turned to leave before saying,
"By the way, your cute when you blush."
Damn him and his smart mouth.
❤️❤️❤️
Ali's clothes fit close to perfection. she was a little bigger than me, but that's what made it perfect- I really don't like skin tight clothes.
"Jo... you ready?"
"Yeah I'll be out in a sec."
I took one large breath and walked out of the changing room with my game face on.
I haven't danced in forever so obviously the stretches really did hurt, but once I got into a somewhat state they were calling us.
Each of you will be assessed on three different areas; flexibility, ability to cheer and....um... acrobatity..."
The candidates snickered while Ali kindly whispered quietly to Adriana.
"Ok. So I was informed that acrobatity wasn't a word, y'all know what I mean right?" Everyone nodded furiously to show yet understood, man they were way too cheery.
'You do know your in an audition for a cheers quad- you have to be cheery.'
Shìt!
'Dumbass!'
We were stretched to our limits while performing all sorts of splits and probably yoga moves. I made a mental note to myself to ask Ali about that later. Honestly some of the moves were just impossible to reach. The ones that couldn't keep up left while boys ogled and drooled from the stands while rest tried to carry on.
Next we had to perform an original cheer lasting thirty seconds to a minute. It was my turn next and I had no idea what to do, but when I stepped forward Ali gave me her signature smile which had me reassured.

"Hey, get with it
Take it to the limit
Fire up
Feel the heat
Clap your hands to the beat
B-O-S-T-O-N
Boston warriors
Don't need a pen
Go warriors!"

After a couple woo's, yeah's and leg kicks I was satisfied that I embarrassed myself enough and walked back into the line of five left. Wait.... how did fifty become five?
We were down to the 'acrobatity' as Ali says, I was incredibly scared as I hadn't flipped like they had been flipping for years.
'Ha! Have fun with that.'
I internally groaned while I watched what they wanted us to do and mimicked them. We were finally finished and they informed us that they would contact us soon. I waddled home, movement courtesy of the law of 'notdancingforyearsresultsinpainfuldeath', I ran the bath before my phone pinged.

'Hey. I think you have a very good shot for that spot!'

I laughed loudly in the bathroom before I quickly clamped my hand over my mouth being weary of my mum and brother since it was late.

'Is it even lawful for you to be talking about this with me.'

'Hmm. maybe, maybe not ;).'

'Ha. well that's a NO!'

'G2G, need to have dinner.'

I sunk into my bath with a satisfied smile on my face.
